Default noise on new lt80 engine???

I've just got a brand new LT80 K5 model but after the engine is revved there is a rattling noise from the lower part of the engine area. The bike goes Ok though. My other older lt80 does not do this and I wonder if there is a problem. Can anyone advise if this is normal or should the bike go back to the dealer?

Thanks.

I wouldn't think it's normal at all.
I'd take it back to the dealer.

Default noise on new lt80 engine???

Spoke to the dealer today who said that this is common on Lt80's. Apparently its the bearings in the vario drive which can rattle on tickover but quieten down after time due to grease/oil build up(the other Lt80 I have is fine (3 years old).

Does this make sense?

The bonus is that I still have 6 months warranty but I would like reassurance of the dealers comments.

I had a simular noise and it turned out to be a weak spring on the starter.

I figured that I'd give this some thought before another reply.
Lets go over bearings. There are bearings in the clutchs. 2 on the rear clutch and 2 inside the gearbox. These bearings don't make noise unless there is a problem and I don't feel that there is a problem with these.Having a problem with these bearings, well lets just say you have a better chance of winning the lottery.
There are no bearings in the the front variator. There is a brass bushing that does break. This could make noise.
The starter noise (as mentioned) sounds like a bell ringing. It shouldn't make noise being new.
I'd like you to remove the air boot by the right foot and see if you posibly have a broke fan. This does happen.
Your dealer gave you one hella poor responce IMO. I wish I could agree with the dealer, but cannot.

I agree, man, the more popular these things get, the less the dealers are service oriented.

Decided to run it to 1 month, get it serviced and head tightened etc and ask them to take a look.

I don't like to wait for uncertain noises. Take it to them now. BTW my daughters 04 lt 80 had the clamp break on the rubber boot that hooks to the motor above the fan on the right side of the bike. It is a very cheap clamp that is pressed together where the threads are.
Maybe this popped loose and is clanking around.
