problem with ATV not idling
#11
well.......not only will it not idle, but it wont run when I release the choke
Does it back fire? Like turning the ignition off?

as soon as I release the choke lever it just dies.....no backfire.
I fooled with it today and couldnt even get it to start. Shot some starting-fluid in the breather and it fired...for a couple seconds.
Should of just paid $2000 and bought a real ATV

Will67, Ijust loosened the 10mm nut on the cable spreader and bumped up the idle a bit.Kids still have to keep some pressure on the throttle to keep it from stalling for a minute or 2 till they warm up but after they're warm they idle fine.

Perdition...thanks...I will try the adjustment you mentioned. Can you tell me how many turns out from bottom your enrichment needle is? I have played with this and wonder if its correct.
Do you think these little things even have a choke at all? I took the cheap pain in the butt air box off completely this weekend and have a K&N filter coming for it. Right now I can put my hand over the intake and choke it.

Problem sounds minimal to me. Only so many things it could be. If you're sure it's not the carb, then take the fuel line off the carb and make sure you have a steady flow. Rule out debris in the tank, clogged petcock valve, clogged fuel filter, pinched/clogged fuel line.

you need to adjust on the carb a little I think... you may have fouled the plug with all the choking too. I had to do the same thing with my $2000 model too..
