Default Good times on ATV's

Just spent some time with a good friend lamenting about the good old days, and the changes we have seen in our sport over the years. Thought others may want to share...

Although there have been some things that we didn't like to see happen, a lot of good times have been had by all. Moments like that gleam in your child's eyes when they managed to cross their first log, or that evil grin they had when they splash their way through a mud puddle knowing that you are right behind them, and are going to get splattered when they spin their tires... Or maybe just spending time with Junior talking about nothing in particular as you scrape the mud off your boots together...

Catching fireflies in the moonlight around a campfire somewhere in the woods...

How about it folks, any favorite moments?

I could sit here and tell storys for hours. Here is one that just melted my old heart. My son Michael is 6 yrs old. He is always screaming for more HP. It 's always need more HP dad. Well my son and I were puting an Airsal 70 kit and a Hetrick power up kit in his mini for the Ironman National. My son always helps when working on his quad. The whole time he was asking how much faster is this gonna be. I just told him a little. When we got it all put together and fired it up. His eyes lit up like stars and he got that EVIL look on his face. It was time for the test run. He went flying out thru the yard and onto his practice track here on our land. He made 1 lap around the track like a little Chris Borich. He then came sliding up to me and riped his helmet of with the bigest smile in the world, threw his arms around me and gave me a huge hug and kiss and said "your the best Daddy in the world. "There all in trouble now". Jumped right back on and off he went. As long as I live I will never forget the smile on his face when he said those words.

Here's a cut / paste from a previous posting I did on another forum last June....

My son & I had our quads out last night. I was suppose to go riding with my neighbor but he didn't have time to empty his 4x8 trailer. It was full of stuff and with our 2" rain yesterday morning, he couldn't take it to our dump. To my surprise, my son wanted to go for a little quad run after dinner. We left at 7:30 PM and didn't get back until 9:30ish. We only drove 1 hour in the dark - good thing I installed a front light on his Pred-90. Unlike our previous quad runs at dusk, we took some different trails. We got a little lost, which drove us past our 9:00 PM ETA return time. Around 8:45 PM, we came down a trail between lots of evergreen trees. By the amount of growth on the trees and covering the top of the trail, I could tell it wasn't traveled very often. After the 200 feet of evergreen trees, which was just like driving in a cave, we came up the other side and up a little 15 foot hill. When we got the to top of the hill, my son immediately stopped and turned off his engine. As I came up behind him, I immediately understood why. We were at the top of a sharp 200 ft drop cliff. We had just enough room to perform a U Turn, the sun set was 3/4 covered by the landscape and our immediate trees had an open viewing point. The view was so breath taking, we each stopped and in silence, watched the rest of the sun set. At moments like this, both of us wished we had our cameras. A view like that only happens once in a life time. When my son rushed into house, he couldn't wait to tell "mom" about this beautiful sun set. Come school time again, I'm sure he'll write an essay about that beautiful place and how we accidentally found it (while we were lost on our quad bikes). A place so beautiful, it was like "only we were meant to see it". A sunset so memorable, I wanted to share it with you too...

Cut / paste from another forum....

For "us boys" in my family, quading is the tool to have fun, talk about life during our snack / drink breaks, and to be with nature. If you ever drive into the middle of nature, turn off your engine and listen. I mean "really listen" for the birds, the crickets and the water flowing in the stream beside you, you'll understand what life "and living" is all about. Without our quads, we'd be stuck in the city listening to cars rushing by and our neighbours fighting with their kids. To us, quading is the tool to have fun, allow "us boys" to bond together, and to be with nature. A win-win situation in our family....
