Most minis go approx 30 mph from the factory. Some go 28 and some go 34. By law, factory minis are restricted at 30 mph. This is done via CDI rev limit settings.
Many people mod their mini because the factory "general" setup doesn't meet their unique riding conditions. Racers want to go faster (above 30), 1st time riders want to go slow without carboning up (easy mod is a sprocket change) and others want more low end power for soft sand &/or hill climbing conditions. For us, we do lots of mud, sand, little hill climbing and tight corner trail riding. Our average speed is 12 MPH (rarely peaks above 20), thus I'm always looking for more bottom end power. Hence, the reasons for our "power mods", and it appears we're allowing our kid to drive a speed rocket.
Hope this helps...

ZukiSu,
I sent you a long winded PM about CDIs and unique configs on for our Pred-90 and our unique riding conditions.
Bottom line is.... If you hold your gas thottle wide open and it won't go fast enough for you, then its factory CDI Rev Limit settings are holding it back. Details on how to upgrade your unit's CDI and many other underlying possible needed mods (for your unique riding conditions / needs), contact LT80 ( Jack Moore at nancym@velocity.net ). He's a national racer and knows LT80s better then most Suzuki engineers.
Hope this helps...

Read the PM
I have ask Jack and am waiting to hear back from. Thanxs for the info: We have added on most of the bolt on upgrades. Runs good my son wants more (power) We clocked him with a GPS at 28.8 mph would like to see at least 35 mph. I read your post and notice you mention a cdi rev limiter. I had to stop and think "am I over looking this?"
