Default KAZUMA 150R NEED HELP

Mywife's quad, yes, I disassembled the carb twice and cleaned with carb cleaner - all jets & passages, and then hit again with compressed air. They will start right up the first time they are put back together because of the residual carb cleaner which I guess is acting like a primer, but the next day it is back to the same old routine. It appears this carburetor issue is not very consistent between atv's. I think I am going to stick with the added primer bulb and be done with it. It makes for a more pleasent riding experience. This forum has been a good source of info I think for everyone. I'll say it again, these are great quads for their intended use and price. They need some tinkering from time to time but these days what doesn't.
Good luck

Default KAZUMA 150R NEED HELP

I bought the basic primer kit from www.mfgsupply.com - do a search for primer kit. However, the fuel lines that came with the kit were not long enough for where I located the primer plunger. I installed it on the cowl opposite the key switch. I picked up the extra fuel line and an additional Tee fitting at my local atv/marine store. The primer kit was a lot cheaper from the mfgsupply. The suction line from the primer kit splices in the main fuel line before the carb and feeds the primer plunger. The discharge line will feed to the carburetor. Some primer kits are used when performance upgrades are made to carburetors and the butterfly choke valve is removed. They use fittings to fit into the holes of the butterfly valve shaft, and the primer fuel is fed to the carburetor from these locations. On the case of the kazuma this was not possible but there is a vent line that runs from the top of the carb to the intake manifold. I purchased an additional tee and spliced the discharge line from the primer plunger into the base of this vent line just before the intake manifold connection. Sort of a direct injection - thus is why I have to crack the throttle during start up to get some air to the mixture. One to two pumps is sufficient, any more will flood it out. Hope this makess sense. But be careful where you route the primer lines, tie them up good with zip ties avoid heat sources etc (common sense). It sounds like most of you are mechanically inclined enough to perform this surgery, but if you are not, (not recommended for the novice) have someone help you that is. Routing a fuel line too close to a direct heat source can be disasterous. Be safe.

Default KAZUMA 150R NEED HELP

Took JBR's strategy tonight - turned the mixture screw out 5 full turns, and it started on the 9th try. (The "normal" setting of 2 turns out, takes about 20 tries.)

Of course, it idled and ran like crap at 5 turns, so I put it back to 2 turns, and it ran great!

Still looking for a better solution though.....

Default KAZUMA 150R NEED HELP

Hi Guys
I have 3 kazuma 150 dingos. loved the first one so picked up 2 more. I have a similar problem with the
bike not idling until warmed up. I would have to hold the trottle, then when warm would run great.
Took it to my dealer at the end of the year and he replaced the carb. Now it idles great, but runs like
crap at at any speed. Backfires and surges. any thoughts.
Thanks

Default KAZUMA 150R NEED HELP

I got the manual choke carb. from Raceway, the other day. The kit is a Kitaco #P425-k. It come with a twist throttle, new intake(can't use wrong direction), new Keihin P24 racing carb. new gasket and a new throttle cable(did not use-won't screw into thumb throttle housing). I got it installed (bitch job). Quad started right up adjusted air screw out 1/2 turns. Runs better but a little light on power.I will be changing to a larger pilot jet, it appears very lean. I will keep you posted

Default KAZUMA 150R NEED HELP

Hi every one I’ve been reading these posts. I just bought my first kazuma today. It is a 50. It’s for our kids obviously and I’ll let every one know how it goes as the year goes on. As for right now it seams to run good. It’s a manual choke so cold starting is not a problem. (I Hope) I work on ATV's on the side and I wanted to try the kazuma because I may start selling them. The one thing that caught my attention here was Air Fuel thing. I believe the reason that the plunger on the by starter lets more air into the carb is to increase the air flowing by fuel thus drawing more fuel into engine. This works in same way as the main jet or any other. As the air passes by it draws fuel as well. That would explain the multiple holes under the plunger of the by starter. I have no practical experience on these particular ATV's it just a guess. I don’t know if this helps at all. And I kind of like the primer idea. And I’m real interested the new manual carb. I hope that works. I can’t wait to hear how it turned out.
