Some interesting points mentioned. I will say the intake manifolds on the 50cc Kazumas seem to break. I think its the fact that there is no front suspension. I was able to find parts at www.kazumausa.com but changing the oil on this little thing was a chore. The frame covers the drain plug and it took some serious work to manuver around it. Overall it seems to have pretty good value for the money.

I bought two Kazuma 50's about 3 months ago for my 4 and 6 year olds. I paid $1000 for both from greatlakesatv.com. Assembly was fairly simple. Both have been driven fairly hard since then both on a frozen lake and on trails. In snow more than a few inches forget it. On the frozen lake with just an inch of snow they worked fine. Both have been flipped several times. Only one flip caused the plastic covering to break (the piece that loops from footrest to footrest around the front).

In terms of mechanical problems:

1. Valves had to be adjusted after 1 month on one of them (cost $80 from dealer) - Does anybody know how to do this??
(Symptoms - unit would not start, was getting gas, low compression)

2. Both ATVs had their chain tensioner nuts come off - there is no lock nut, so over time they rattle away. This of course caused the chain to come off during operation.

3. Last week the intake manifold cracked. Dealer is mailing a replacement for $35. Dealer says that only engine parts are covered on the 6 month part warranty. He also said that this part breaks quite often usually when adults ride them. My older (and bigger) son and some of his friends were caught riding it - which probably contributed to the parts demise. (Symptoms- unit hard to start, only runs on full choke with full throttle)

I will take the advice of the other user and grease up the electrical connections and lower the air pressure to 8 psi.

In conclusion, the kids love them, the price is right, but be prepared to spend some time working on them.

Dave

I bought my 5 year old, 40 lb. son a Meercat 50 (Redcat KMX-50)... received it on 5/31/05. He loved it until the intake manifold broke on 6/05/05... Purchased from 1trail.com...mistake! Can't get them to return my e-mails or calls... Looking at the position of the carb, it runs very close to the frame... probably will break again if I ever receive the new part. Any ideas to keep this from happening again? Any help you can give would be great! Thanks, Gary

My son and I just got back from his first trail ride on his new kuzuma. We live on the top of a a fairly good size mountain. The little kuzuma is perfect for him(he is 7 and about 50lbs.)He rode it down to the river(about a 35 degee incline) from a ridge of about 200 ft.down to the river. It ran great with only a few drawbacks I can see.(no front brakes make it difficult to stop down steep inclines w/o fishtailing back end and chain has no guard which makes it a little hard to stump jump )great traction coming back up even in georgia clay. Cant beat the price(650$ delivered from racewayatv.com)although this price doesnt include setup which is supposed to be done by dealer as to not void warranty.we are happy so far,and i plan on getting a 2005 250 recon tommorow so I dont have to walk so dang far.

Txso if the company you bought the bike from will not help you just give me a call and I would be happy to send you out one. As I said before we try to help everyone in the forum even if they did not buy the bike from us.

To raceway staff,so far this has been a excellent little quad. But my main concern is the lack of a chain guard, not being a welder,is the any part I could order(for chain protection) as we plan to do alot of woods riding and dont want to keep having the chain catch twigs and the occasional "stump jump"?

We just ordered Kazuma 50 from Raceway today and are anxiously awaiting its arrival. We ordered it for our 7 year old (50 lbs.). She just drove an ATV for the first time in her life last night and did great. I'm a little nervous about the reviews talking about the intake tubes breaking and all the adjustments and greasing that are recommended but I'll leave that to my husband! I know that this forum has been extremely helpful for me so I thought it only fair to document my experience for others as well. The conversations on here really helped me decide to buy the Kazuma 50 and to buy it from Raceway.

Will try to keep everyone posted!

I'd like to get a Kazuma KMX50 for my 3 year old son. He's 36" tall. Do you think he can operate the brake?
