Default fx150 problem

Got a fx150 that had dead battery. I took out battery and charged it. I hooked up the pos and then the neg. Once I touch the neg to the battery it shorts out and sparks. Just on the intial touch. Once it sits on its ok but I know its not. Something is shorting out. If I do keep it on for a min the stator smokes. I replaced that. still same, then replaced starter. still same problem. checked all plugs. So then disconnected battery. If I dont put the little red pos wire the one with the fuse in it, onto the battery i dont get the sparking and shorting. But of course it wont start like that. I belive that is the wire that goes all the way to the ignition. So I unplugged the ignition plug and it still sparks when I hook up that little red wire. Where is the short then.. THe only thing that didn't get replaced was the coil. I even did the starter relay for the heck of it.

Sounds like a short with the pos wire. Did you follow the wired all the way down to make sure they are not pinched or burnt? Where did you buy the machine from? Did this just start happening?

yes it just started happening. The wires are taped in those tube type wire holders pretty much the whole way to front of machine.
