Oil Injection.. how can I tell if it's working?
We are setting up a quad for 50 limited, and I don't really have time to ride it enough to see if the oil level in the tank drops (wanting to test it at Loretta Lynn's). Is there an easier way to tell if it's working? If I pull the line off at the carb, should I see a flow of oil, or is it so slow that I wouln't tell? I put new lines on it... is it safe to assume that if I see oil at the end of the carb end that we're good? I put our normal 40:1 premix in the gas tank, and it smokes a lot worse than our 70 quad does. I just want to ween it off the oil before we start fouling out plugs.

Follow the throttle cable down until it splits one cable will go to the Carb the other should split down to the oil pump. In theory depressing the throttle lever you are increasing fuel flow to the Carb and at the same time inceasing the oil injected into the carberator at the same time. So to test the oil injection system you would simple over activate the oil injection pump level in two ways by manually pullin on the cable or by dpressing the laver at the pump. You should then notice an EXTREME increase in smoke from exhaust pipe. If you don't get a increase in spoke from the tail pipe you definally have problem. it is rare that the oil pumps fail due to the constant lubrication of 2 cycle oil flowing thru the pump. Look for a clogged or crimped or damaged oil line from the tank to the pump and then to the carb. Good Luck!!
