Default lt80 rear brakes

Hi I am new to this site. I have been following it for a couple of weeks and found it very interesting! I have alot of questions but here is my first one. My two sons race lt 80's in our local harescramble series and the OMA national series. we have had alot of problems with rear brakes not holding up. Any suggestions on a good brake shoe to use. (I wish they made disc brakes for them)

Thank you any advise will be appreciated!

The biggest thing would be to get the brakes to stop dragging.
I get "L" brackets from a hardware and drill/mount them to the brake lever. I then use a spring from the skid plate to the "L" bracket. This may help get you the brake wear intended.

thanks for the advice on the brakes!
My next question is my 10 yr old has a stroker motor in his lt80 with a block reed cage from a kx80 and a 28mm carb from a kx 80 the carb is wore out. Any suggestions on what to use for a new carb?
My 8 year old has a 105 kit with a 20 mm carb and his carb has never really performed very well. Any suggestions for his bike?
Thanks again! Jade

Stroked motor:: I would get another carb just like it if it worked well. What's the stroke (mm)?

105:: if it's not stroked, it's 96.189cc's. The carb not performing,,hmmmmm....If it's the carb, then it's jetting. We use48/120 jets (+/-).
I've had good reports on the "dial-a-jet".Maybe that would help. I've not had a problem with the 20mm, cept for it falling off.

May I ask who built your motors?

Hello, 20 mm carb I'll try that jetting thank you! Yes jetting has been a problem with that bike.
My 10 year olds bike is stroked we did some work here and some in Oklahoma it flys but he is a little heavier when the 8 year old gets on it wow.
We are interested in running a GNCC race to try it out. Any information about those? I think there is one in Indiana coming up. So far in our OMA and MXC series we have been running this year we have traveled to Oklahoma,Arkansas,Ohio, Wisconsin, going to Missouri tomorrow. I know Gncc racers travel also thinking about doing that circuit next year.
Thanks again for the info more questions to come!
