lt80 chain / gearing
I've seen many people say you can't get 1/2 links for 520 chain. But that's not true. I just bought 2 from my local Suzuki dealer for my son's so we could run different sprocket combos without adding a chain roller for tension.
They are 1/2 links and not master links in case someone asks.

sprockets for 428 / 40 conversions.......................use front sprockets from RM 80/85's to alter your ratios. If you go see your local parts guru, ask for JT sprockets from Tucker Rocky Dist. the sprockets run 9- 11.00 bucks each. In comparison the RMATV numbers run 6.99 each, then add shipping fees, they come out the same unless you are buying alot at the same time. I have not yet found a rear sprocket to match. I'll keep looking!
Fish, once I get to the shop, I'll post the Distributors P/N and name for the 520 1/2 link kits!

I read on this forum that 1/2 links for a 420 chain didn't exist. I found one and hope it works.

Get your LT's going so we can race each other, hehehehe... you and me baby......
I've got our new one, with Jacks(LT80) motor , in about 400 pieces right now
Maintenance and painting
then try to dial it in, should be fun for me since I know just about nothing
I'm gonna go with the smaller chain on both of ours, I'll just have to figure out the right gearing..
Hey Jack, sent ya a couple e-mails

OK, I see "smaller" I presumed this meant the 428 pitch sprockets as opposed to the stock 520 chain you have.
If that is correct, I'll explain further, but it may not simplify it. LOL
I'm going to talk exclusevly about 428 pitch sprockets now::
You will want a Zuki 26 tooth rear. It's steel and will last a long time.
Stock front is a 12 tooth.Stock motors can run much taller gearing (up to 17 front) because they grunt pretty good but have low rpm's. My modded motors that turn high rpms run a 13 front for most mx racing....I see in another post what you are doing. Your gearing will be in there somewhere between 13-17. If it was me, I'd get 13-14-15 fronts and go from there.
Jet=zuki dealer, any marshall dealer, or a parts unlimited dealer would be the first 3 places to look...So is the 90 jet what your motor builder is recommending?

I don't have a motor builder. I was just going off what you posted on this forum to get a small-modest increase:
"If your child is far from that level but needs a lil more, Remove 2 of the rollers and have the head shaved .030. Lower the main jet to a 90 and go have fun."
I hope I'm not heading in the wrong direction.
My son is riding alot of trails and tracks at the local riding holes. He is really getting into the play tracks with the small jumps and such. He is play racing around with another kid on a trx90. I'm mainly concerned about the handling right now, I just thought while I was digging in to it, I would make a fun project out of it and add a little oomph to it.
