no mid-range power
#1
I am looking for a little help to find out why my sons quad has no mid range power. I just changed the variator on the quad and it starts out good than has now mid power until the rpms get high than it takes off again. The variator is from hetricks but I already had one before until my daughter dropped it and broke the end. That is why I am confused, I am not sure why it is acting like this. Any suggestions or help that you can give would be greatly appreciated.
The quad is a Kasea with a 70 cylinder and most of the other motor mods you can do. I am not very mechanically inclined so I am wondering where to start. I thought about decreasing the weight in the variator but I have not had the oppertunity yet. I just don't know why it would act like this by just changing the variator.
Thanks for the help !!!

I'm with you, I don't understand why it would be different unless you recieved a slightly different variator. Possibly a different brand??
You can try roller weight and see if it helps. Simply remove one roller to test.
What did Rich say about it?

I got a chance to change some weight and then changed the back spring and got it close to where it is going to need to be with a little more testing. Had to lower the weight like lt80 said and also talked to rich and my old variator must just have been pretty wore out. With the new ramp angle it changed the whole set-up. Thanks for the help LT
