lt80 cluch questions
#1
Well after rebuilding the top end on the lt80 it still has no top end speed -so I pulled the clutch apart.Low an behold it was packed with sand, grease and whatever else! All the rollers are flat and both pieces of the clutch are grooved!(bad). From reading all the posts do I want to replace both pieces or just the steel plate? Plus the rollers. What should I look for on the rear clutch? I squeezed it it seems fine.I know jack said pull 2 rollers but will that help anything other than stall speed? My son weighs 105 lbs and we use the quad at the dunes.Oh by the way Jack was right again!!! Thanks Al

I'd get all new parts.
Rear clutch:: Stick your finger in the bearings and turn, check for bad spots. Other than that, just sand (lightly) the pads to remove the glaze. All done.
The 2 roller thing just helps stall. I'd think that would be a good thing in the sand.

I knew the answer was going to be that! Is it normal for the belt to have a slight groove on the inside? It apears to have rubbed or hit on the washer(spacer) in between the clutch faces? Oh, and thanks again Jack for your help! Al
