Unless your 3 year old is HUGE, I wouldn't put him on an 80, I have a big 6 year old and he is just big enough to stand up on his 80's. An older 50 (befrore they started building quads for 6 years and up) might be your best choice (due to seat to peg heights)
Lots of fast 50's around these parts.

he rides an atc 70 now, but the gears are giving him problems...i put it in 2nd and let him go, governed of course.. i would feel better on 4 wheels, but i grew up on 3 and i am sure most of you did also..
i am looking for an auto with 4 wheels, not a lecture..

The LT-80 not only has a foot operated rear brake, it is one of the smaller 80s.
My boy looks right on his 80, but looks small on his 90.
To bad I am on the wrong coast, we're selling our LT-80.

I have it advertised locally for $2000 obo.
May seem high for your neck of the woods, but a 2005 LT-80 here goes for $2399, + tax, dealer prep, DMV fees, and your looking at $2800 or more otd.

I ordered a Unison 90 from Raceway for my 7 yoa, still waiting for it slightly delayed due to Katrina. She outgrew a Sundiro 50 which her 4 yoa sister now rides. I have to put three 2X6 blocks on each footrest for the 4 yoa on the 50, otherwise she is just now growing into it. The Unison 90 has lights, foot brake, auto, and reverse and quite a bit cheaper than LT80 or the others. Cant vouch for it yet though but I think most of them are made in Taiwan anyway.
Kazuma makes a real small 50 four-stroke thats pretty cheap, like $600-$800. probably what I would buy for my 3-4 yoa if I had to do it over again. JMO. Your choice......
