dawn,

I have never heard of this number as being referred to by the volume of the crank case unless its right by the fill hole for the oil or the dip stick. I want to make sure the number we are talking about is on the cylinder and not the crankcase.

On all japanese machines this number on the cylinder means the cubic centimeters of the motor unless it followed by an L which would mean liters. Take for instance on my recon it has stamped 229cm3 on the cylinder which means 229cc and you would not want to put 229 cc or 2.29 liters of oil in the crankcase in US measures that would equal about a 1/2 qt. of overfill.

The chinese quads could use this blank area on the cylinder for the oil fill amount but it should be stamped on the crankcase, so this would mean your machine calls for 1.24 liters of oil.

Some where on that motor/cylinder it should have a stamp with 149cm3

added after the fact

I went out and looked at my machines and none except the KDX have the crankcase fill.

On the kdx crankcase its says by the fill hole 0.70 L (0.74 US qt) which means 70cc of transmission fliud and stamped on the side of the cylinder its .198 L which means 198cc

If you click on left crank case, mine is stamped on the tab area directly to the left of #22 and #27. Its on the bottom under where the engine #'s are stamped.

Ok so it is on the crankcase.

MWQ ( 1.24 L ) is that how much your machine calls for in the owners manual?

Yes it is on the crankcase, the cylinder is covered with a plastic shroud so i havnt seen any #s there.

It holds slightly less than one qt of oil so i would say that its more like .85/.9 L capacity

Well, when I think we have this figured out I get more confused.

I think I'am with you on this nap business because I have just worked my brain a little to hard already this morning.

It is kind of strange, I never even questioned if it was a 150 or not. not a real powerhouse but i never expected it to be either.
No doubt about it.
