New Yamoto 50 Chain problems
#1
We just purchased a Yamoto 50 for our son from Raceway. The chain will just not stay on. We have tried adjusting, adjusting and adjusting! The advice from Raceway has not fixed the problem. I was wondering if anyone here can help before I call again.
Thanks

I've got a yamoto 50 and have not had any problems like this. Have you checked that the
rear axle is somewhat parallel to the front end. I measure from the center of the front
hub to the center of the rear on each side. There is a adjusting nut right under the rear brake
drum. I would take both adjusters loose and retension the chain making sure the hub to hub measurement
is close. I have a 1/2" diff on my daughters and have not pitched a chain. I usually try to get about 1"
of up/down play in the chain.

Do you have one of the newer model yamoto 50's with the dual a-arm front suspension? I have never had a problem with these. On the older model 50's with the leading-arm front suspension, there was an extremely week rear swing arm that sometimes cracked. When these crack, it is impossible to keep your chain on. If it is a dual a-arm front suspension model, the rear swingarm is much better, and no one I know has had any trouble with them. I have heard that the raceway guys are pretty good, if you picked up the bike at there shop in this condition, I would just run it back over to them. I be they will will fix it for you.

Thanks for all the advice. I think we may have figured it out. Does this sound right? It seems to happen when the quad is not put back in 1st gear after stopping. I thought it could be put into any gear and the gear shift taken off to make it an automatic, not that we took it off, so I thought it didn't matter what gear it was in. Anyways I know when it is going to happen because I hear a small clanging sound as my son it riding. Either it is not in gear good or it is in the wrong gear. Am I own the right track? Beside this issue, it runs great.
Remember this a girl's view, don't be to hard on me.

This one is on Raceway's site. It is a 4 speed semi automatic. It does not say Yamoto on the site but that is what I was told. I could be mistaken.

Lynx, have you gotten your chain situation figured out? Other than that what your overall thoughts on the XL50? Would you recommend one to others? Anything in particular you like and dislike about the design and build quality? I'm still sitting on the fence as far as what to purchase for my 5yo son, so I'd love to hear your thoughts!
