Mini Chest Protector

To view the different brands, shapes and colors of youth chest protectors, surf: - Press Here for E-Bay search -
As a suggestion, visit a few local motocross shops in your area. Ask your young rider to try on as many as he/she can. If this is a surprise Christmas gift, use a neice / nephew of the same body size for fitting tasks. For proper body fitting, make sure he/she can comfortable move their arms in a full circle. Some brands have different "cuts" - just like different brands of shirts / coats. Once you get the brand and body size you like, you can buy it from the dealer or possibly off E-Bay. What ever works best for you.
Hope this helps...

For those of our young riders who already have chest protectors, I'd recommend they also use it while skate boarding, riding their peddle bikes and even roller blading. My daughter uses her chest protector during these sports (and including driving our Pred-90) and it's saved her lots of pain "may times over". Besides that, my daughter looks really cool in her roller blades and chest protector. Some of her friends want a chest protector (for their non mini-quad riding) as well.
Just another idea that cross-sport safety equipment can be used in other areas as well.

As with any safety equipment, my suggestion would be to get one that fits them reasonably well. DO NOT expect them to grow into something too big for them. Same goes for too small.
Get one that offers maximum protection, and to do that it has to fit well. When the child grows out of it, consider donating it to another enthusiast family. There are a lot of financially challenged riders out there that need to upgrade their current equipment that would love to have it for their kids. Do your part.. Pass it on! Nobody shoud feel ashamed to ask... Heck, I was 12 befor I got my first "New" pair of jeans... We made do, and it didn't affect me in the least... I sort of was proud in a wierd way...
I like Spike's idea of having them use it for other functions too. A child can find many ways to get into trouble...

We have a couple different ones. The smallest is a mini Flak Jak, it's pretty small. We also have a couple Fox R3's but they are bigger, more for 8yrs and up.
As for using them for other things, I make my 6 yr old wear his when he goes into the woods to play with his big brothers. Being a little brother is a contact sport in itself sometimes.

I can relate... my older brother is 5 years older than I am, and he was a gorilla by the age of 12. He used to use me as his personal training dummy when his friends were around. He was always trying to impress them with how far I could fly accross the room without touching the ground... I finally beat him to a pulp one time when we were much older... hasn't bothered me since. Sure wish I had thought of a flak Jacket when I was his age... I needed it...
