my dad a rider from the day and is telling me that i should take my son's starter off and send it to a rebuild shop. well i called my dealer that sponsors us and they said we dont rebuild the starters. is it tough? can i do it. i'm a mechanic on fords. somewhat know what im doing. was wanting some input. or should i just spent the $100.00 and just go buy a new one? his carb leaked onto the starter and gummed it up i'm guessing. it sometimes kicks in only the solinoid and then i hammer the starter and she'll fire off. we have some indoors here to do so no answer is unhelpful. thanks in advance. tommy.

 

A can of crc motor cleaner/contact cleaner (an aerosal can) and a new set of brushes from Moose or suzuki. Brushes are 12-15.00 bucks
