Default Kazuma 90 problems

swapmeetlouie,

Be careful with the NoToil cleaner on that Uni filter. The cleaner will make the filter come apart. I was talking with a guy at a local performance shop and he said that the NoToil cleaner reacts badly with the glue on the UNI filter. Some kind of weird reaction that causes the glue to become real sticky. After speaking with the guy, I went home to check my UNI for one of my CRF 150's and sure enough the glue on the filter was sticky and coming apart. No more filter. I know that the stock and the Twin Air filters are okay with the NoToil cleaner. So far it's only the Uni that I know of that comes apart. The recommendation of the performance shop is to play it safe and only use the NoToil cleaner with NoToil filters.

Good Luck.

SB.

thanks for the heads up SB, I guess for $13 they are almost disposable. I'll keep an eye on it and watch for self destruction....

Default Kazuma 90 problems

Well, found out what it was. 1st prob, was chipped exhaust valve seat, probbly due from poor machine work I am guessing. Then, when they shipped us back the cylinder head, and we adjusted the valves, they would continue to rattle, we would re-adjust, they would rattle again, etc. Come to find out, the cam shaft, didn't even fit, it was way to short. Had to resend it back for the proper cam shaft. Worked okay for a while, but now, the battery goes dead, you can recharge, but he will ride, and as soon as it is cut off, it won't even crank. Working on that prob. Hard to believe it could be the battery considering it is only 3 mo. old. But who knows. I have came to the conclusion that it is a piece of sh*t.
Anyways, spoke to soon on the Merkat 50, it tries it's best, but won't start. Working on that also. Will let you know what is wrong with it when we find out. I would recommend checking all the bolts on both, they seem to want to loosen themselves. Well, thanks for you imput. If anyone is interested, or have any suggestions, I'm all ears!

Get a Uni Filter, change the oil often with 20W40, loctite on bolts and nuts, and liquid eletrical tape on all electric connectors for waterproofing was a good starting point for me.
