Are the new 2006 Yamaha Raptor 50 and the Suzuki Z50 California Green Sticker legal?

AFAIK, they are both Green sticker legal. Any respectable Yamaha or Suzuki dealer can easily confirm that for you. I bought my son a new KFX50, which gets a Red Sticker due to the 2-stroke, the only problem with the Red Stickers is not being able to ride at Pismo in the summer. Other than that, I don't ever see wanting to ride out in the desert from May to September anyway, so the red sticker won't be a problem for us.

A local dealer that sells both Yamaha and Susuki told me that they were both red sticker thats why I'm asking. I know they're both 4 strokes that's why it didn't make sense to me. I don't want red sticker because we ride a lot more places than Pismo during the year especially in the summer!

Hmmm, that's strange. I thought they were both Green Sticker. I just looked at both the manufacturer sites and neither mention whether or not the 50s are Green sticker. I guess the only way to be sure would be right down VIN numbers from the two models and go to the dreaded DMV, or maybe Yamaha and Suzuki have phone numbers you could call and ask... Good luck and let us know what you find out

One more thing, I just noticed at Yamaha's site that they say the '06 Raptor80 is CA Green sticker, but make no mention about it on the '06 50 page, makes me think they aren't... Here's Suzuki's Customer Service number 714-572-1490. I can't believe they'd replace the LT50A with yet another red sticker 50, but what do I know!

2004YFZ450,

Just got the phone with two different dealers they both stated the Raptor 50 and the Z50 are red sticker quads. Called a dealer in Ventura and one in Los Angeles. You would think that both Yamaha and Suzuki would have certified them green sticker for more sales. Anyways good luck.

here is the scoop since i live in california with the green sticker red sticker bull.

lt 50 last green was 2002 maybe 2003
all new 50's are red sticker 4 stroke or 2 stroke. You can thank carb for this, i think it had to do with cost.
the new 2006 lt 80 and raptor 80 are green sticker
So i just bought a 2002 lt 50 suzuki and so far its great. have not taken it to the dunes yet but up 2 foot hills not a problem yet but have not started at the bottom of one. Oh this is a green sticker 2 stroke.

The '06 LT80 is green sticker? Isn't it still a 2-stroke? I didn't think that any 2-stokes have been Green Sticker starting with the '03 model year.
