mywifesquad,

Thanks for the info. I was wondering where your problem might have been. I will watch those areas on the shaft in the future. There are times when we ride with a big group, the kids and adults will get on the smaller bikes and quads and mess around with them. You never know what parts they may break. Oh by the way, this also includes me.

Thanks again.

MWQ or SMB05,

I have the JM150 and overall I am happy with it. I have most of the issues taken care of. I do have alot of play in the upper ball joints. It is not actually in the joints but the a arm where the joint slides into. It has alot of play up, down and back and forth. Do either of you have this or is it tight. Also how much delay is there in the rear gearbox when switching from foreward to reverse and back. It seems like the chain will move alot before the grearbox catches up. Should this be a smooth transition or is there play in the gearbox. Is there a way to take up some of the slack in the gearbox to make it shift smoother. When the kids shift is more or less bangs into gear. Also when about half to full throttle it sputters. I have moved the needle and no change. I dont see and air fuel screw. Other than these problems it has been great and the kids love it but I want to fix all the issues before we go out to ride. Any ideas of fixes with these issues please let me know or tell me if they are normal.

2manytoys, I noticed a little play in the ball joints until I shot them full of grease. Then it went away. There does seem to be some delay in the reverse like you say but I havnt noticed any noise. I have noticed that the more throttle applied the harder it shifts into reverse/forward. As for the sputtering I have nothing like that on any of the 150's that I have had. I am sure there is a air screw I just cant remember where it is on which quad right now. I will look tonite and let you know.

smb05, I have a bit of time abusin.....I mean riding the Yamoto 150 myself.

2manytoys, mine are tight. I would do what MWQ recommended and grease them up, see if they tighten up. If not I would replace them before you have a safety issue.

When we put our quad into reverse the sprocket will make a 3/4 to almost a full revolution before it engages. If you give the quad a rapid throttle when engaging the reverse gear it will make that banging noise and will jump or jerk the person on the quad pretty good. Have the kids give it a nice even throttle and it will engage smoothly. My son was doing the same thing when he first started to ride the quad.

2manytoys, what carb do you have on the quad? Is it still the CV carb or did they change it? Also do you have the manual choke cable? The sputtering sounds like the choke is still partially open. My CRF 150's will do the same thing if I leave the choke in the middle position after they have warmed up. Have you tried any thing else other than moving the clip on the needle? Did you already change your air filter? I'm sure you have already done this but have you checked for any vacuum leaks? What does your plug look like?

Sorry for all the questions.

Please keep me posted, or start a new thread on what you find out.

Good Luck.
