remove two or three rollers
#1
Hey guys , my buddy and I talked to a guy at a bike shop the other day about removing the rollers on the lt 80. I have been on the site for a while now and the talk is too remove 2 rollers. The guy at the shop told us to remove three and he is a self proclaimed guru on the 80s.I know mr lt80, says on this sight to only remove two. My buddy removed three and his worked fine for now.what is the long term effects on removing 3...I have been connected to this site for a while and if "LT80" says to only remove 2 then thats what i'll do.Is there anything that I need to tell my buddy about future problems with removing 3, if any. Thanks up front for the replys....

You'r motor may be pulling more rpm than it should, basically going past it's powerband. LT80 messes with the LT80 constantly so I'd say 2 is good and has my vote. Now if we could ever just get him to come over to the dark side with us 90cc 2 stroke racers he'd be even faster. LOL

it does affect top speed , if you don't use enought weight the variator doesn't open all the way and won't allow the drive belt to slide to the bottom of variator, you can verify this by using a gps before removing and after removing the weights

Jack built my sons LT80 listed under the topic " some other lt80 pics " I had to remove 3 rollers to get the desired stall speed. You can also drill out the rollers to get the correct roller weight your looking for.

For a stock engine, removing 2 is all that's needed. Removing 3 may increase the stall over removing 2 but it may take off slower cuz the clutch isn't being pushed hard from too little weight. Top speed will be effected by removing 3 IMO (Bills correct). All your llooking for is a better start (stall), the LT in stock form grunts well IMO.
Your buddy shouldn't have any long term effects as far as damage goes.
Again, this is for a stock motor/pipe.
Hymis quad is highly modified and uses a Trinity pipe. Once modded and piped, all the above changes.
Who's the guru (I wonder if know him)?
Dark side?? 2 stroke racers?? I thought I was there.
Truth be known, the "other" motors that I've built are a tad faster than my LT80 motors. Now if I'd only change my nickname to:: kasetodinanymotor. LMAO!!
hey maggiesboy:: CONGRATS ON THE MAG PIC!!!!!!!! (I do think that 2 doesn't effect top speed but 3 does).
