LT80 Bottom End Rebuild
#1
It looks like I'm going to attempt a bottom end rebuild due to excessive play in the rod. I've got the manual and it seems pretty straightforward, but I may need to bring it into the shop to have the crank pressed back in. At least I don't have to mess with any tranny gears. Has anyone done this? Any tips? Should I get a full Hot Rod kit, or can I get away with just the crank bearings, seals, rod bearings, and thrust washers? Any advice is appreciated.

I'd get a new crank.
By the time they rebuild the old crank, a new one isn't that much more. Trueness is another reason. Getting them straight again can be very hard.
FYI: the crank is not pressed in. I use heat and have everything slide together nice and easy.
