Yes. I would at least get the tires straight up as it sits.
Nothing beats a dual a-arm set up.

It was challenging, but he's really happy with it. Gonna try to do the same thing on my Polaris Scrambler...it has struts up front...will be tougher if I try to retain 4x4...

I ended up just buying wheel spacers and flopping my wheels to get the extra width. It came out looking good. Now the tires hit the nerf bars. Does anyone know if the Midwest mini shocks would fix this?

I can have my brother shorten the nerf bars to fix the problem. But if the Midwest mini shocks improve travel and the quad sits higher then perhaps my tires will clear the nerf bars?

thanks again, you guys are very helpful!

Most don't care for those shocks. Basically they are too long. The camber goes way out on top.
Hitting the nerfs when stud extenders on was a common problem.
Email says there are pics.

I don't think changing suspension travel impacts the tires hitting the nerf bars, but I could be wrong.

Jack is right...out of the box the Midwest Mini shocks will be too long and create significant positive \ / camber at rest, but they are much better sprung for lighter riders and can be made to work if you fab up some of these:

I agree.
The reason the tires are hitting is because spindle didn't move out, just the tires did. This causes a longer turning radius. And a lil harder to steer.
