Im still new to the site, and to riding. I bought my son an 05 DS50. Even with the thing being new, it will stall and not run untill it got home. I have posted on here to find out what I can do, but I didnt get a clear answer. After reading some of the post from this thread, I wonder if you guys may help me out. Its a huge bummer when we are out riding and the thing stops. For a while it will start up by just changing the plug, but as time has gone by that wont even work. At first a friend thought the fuel wouldnt go thru the filter, so he rand it direct, and it did run great for a while. A while later it would stop once again. Usually when I get home after riding, when I pull it off the trailer just his luck the thing would start.(kind of late for that). So for my sons riding sake, can someone please help.

Things to try: Clean spark arrestor screen and air filter. Jetting?? Oil injector, spark plug gap (when it is running good shut if off and check the plug this may help with jetting).

My kids DS crapped out one day, it idled perfect but would not rev up... dealer replaced the CDI box and it's happy trails.

 

I just got the "race" cdi from Quad Squad on ebay for $25. They sell a regular one for $12 and had a "race" one for $30 or best offer and was able to get it $25. They told me the race cdi advances the timing at lower rpms for faster acceleration. I got it in the mail straight from tiawan in 7 days. The connector doesn't match up but the wires are all exactly the same color (snip snip, splice splice). It started right up and WOW, it revs way more now.
