Help with getting new 110 started and running
#1
Hi. First timer here. Please be gentle.
I bought a couple of Chinese ATV's for my kids, from Motorextremes in OKC. After some small assembly, and immediately changing the oil out, the 150 started right up and is running well. The 110, I think it's a "Fushin" brand, is having problems.
It simply will not stay running. I have turned the idle up/down, but it has no real effect. The choke is all the way out. It fires, but won't stay running. The only way it will start is if I open the throttle all the way, but then, of course, it wants to take off. I can brake and keep it going for a while, but it eventually dies off even doing this.
The guys at the place where I bought it have been great. They have helped on the phone, but they are swamped right now. They did say that if it is still having problems after Christmas, that I could bring it over and they would get it running right for no charge. But I'd kinda like to have it for Christmas morning. Any info on this company? www.motorextremes.com
Confession - I know little to nothing about 4-wheelers or motorcycles, so any help will be greatly appreciated.

Sir,
Please look at the spark plug and see what color it is at this time? Is it grey or is it dark burnt black? Also, call your guys at the shop and tell them you want to know what the NGK type it takes. Go to the local Reilly's and get a couple. One under the seat, one in the engine. I use to be stationed at Tinker Air Force Base...good luck. Lets us know what color for further advice.
Also,
You stated the guys you bought them off of have been great. Sitting back on this forum, it doesn't sound to great. What they are really saying is this: I'm going to sell a bunch during Christmas, then worry about the isses later. In saying that, ask them this: I'm not satisfied with my 110 and either want a refund, or a new quad...one my kid can ride. Get passed they are being nice and see if they stick behind it. If they say no, you know they are BS. If the give you a refund, but it from Raceway to avoid this service issue.
See...we were not so rough on you

Thanks for the advice. I'll give the spark plug change a try.
However, I am not prepared to throw this company under the bus just YET. They gave me a good deal, I got a 110 and a 150 and 2 helmets for $1,299, and they have been helpful each time I've called them. As a fellow business owner, I am understanding of the deadlines places are under around Christmas, so I'm not as firm and demanding during this time. If they screw me over after Christmas or the things never run right, I'll be happy to tear them a new one.
I changed the oil, now I'll change out the plugs on both bikes. Anything else I should go ahead and change before riding? Thanks.

Are you sure you've been turning the idle screw and not the mixture screw? There should be two screws (well, 3 if you count the bowl drain screw).
Regardless, turn the mixture screw all the way in, then back out 1.5 turns. If you can then get it running, you can tinker with the mixture after it has had time to run for about 30 min to clean the gel stuff out of the carb.

Rodney, I'm not sure of anything right now!! I'm a freakin' accountant trying to build a 4-wheeler. Luckily, my brother is a mechanic and will be over on Sunday. But I'd rather get it going before he gets here.
The screw I turned (which I assumed was the idle) was down by the left leg, faced out towards the side of the bike, and had a spring in it. Turning it tight or loose seemed to have no effect at all when hitting the start button. Like I stated before, with full throttle it starts and wants to boogie, but no other time will it turn over.
Where would the mixture screw be? I'm nowhere near the ATV right now.

Im not sure what carb you have but the screw with the spring on it should be the idle. The other one (not the drain screw) is the mixture screw. Mixture screws are typically located on the side of the carb on these bikes. If not there, then the mixture screw is probably located vertically just in front of the bowl but before the intake and below it.
I would be willing to bet that you can get it running with the mixture screw adjustments.

jamegumb,
Here are some other areas to look at.
1. Make sure the fuel tank is vented. Air needs to flow through the fuel cap.
2. Check all fuel lines make sure there are no obstructions in the lines. Sometimes when the fuel tanks come from the factory they will have little plastic flakes in them. If there is no fuel filter installed the fuel lines and carb will plug up. If you suspect that you might have the flakes in the carb, you will need to remove the carb from the ATV and clean it out. If you don't have an in line fuel filter installed, it would be a good idea to install one.
3. Read 2manytoys HOW TO carb adjustment on any Chinese atv.
4. Reset your Idle mixture screw. 2 to 2 1/2 turns out should do it.
5. Make sure your getting the proper air flow through your air filter. You might even want to replace it with a K&N or UNI filter.
6. You should replace the spark plug like suggested. If you continue to use the stock plug, make sure the plug has the proper gap.
Good Luck.

#1 it gets sparc so that is good
it wants to run it just runs like crap no matter what you do to adjust it one way or the other.
so the next thing i would do is pull the carb drop thefuel bowl and spray all of the nooks and cranys and holes jets every thing out real good with carb cleaner and put it back to gether. that works for me all the time with stupid carburetors.
