air filter
I did think about spraying the air filter with scotch guard,303,or some other kind of water repelant.I can take a piece of toilet paper and spray it,let it dry and wont soak up any water. It would keep it out if it went under or strate stream from a hose, but it bead upand keep it from soakin in.

OK,I might have made a mistake,I done did it,Friday,so I didnt read these post till today. But I used 303,I dont contain silicone so I dont think it will clog up.
But I did add a piece of thin foam, wrap it twice and zip tied it.I think that done somethin, cuz it smells like its running rich now where before it didnt smell like that.My son was riden thru a feild and he slowed down and guust it and it spit out some smoke,I asume that was excess gas or oil.
I have a question about the oil now, should I ask it here or start another thread?

stewartlittle,
I realize everyone is on a tight budget but I would upgrade that air filter system. A clamp on type uni with a outwear is cheap maybe $25. I use them on both quads and on two off road golf carts. They keep out all the fine dust, are easy to clean (especially if you try to un screw that air box) and cause thier oiled they keep out water unless your planning to go under? You don't usually have to re-jet unless you also change the exhaust. It just is a way better way to go.

Not sure of that quad but you have to measure
