lt 80 flooded
#1
Im thinking I have a problem with the petcock, but not sure. I put a new plug in and it was very wet with gas. When I do get it to crank it bogs for a little while then it runs fine. I put new reeds and a different carb on, it has a 20mm carb, and it still wont crank. It is getting too much gas from somewhere. If it is the petcock how do I fix it.

petcocks fail a few ways.
leaks externaly
cloged with crap and wont flow fuel
stuck open or closed.
none of these things will make your bike run rich or flood.a bad float needel in the carb or crap hanging up the float needel is usualy what it is.

Seeins you have the 20mm on it, you use the petcock as an on/off petcock now as there is no vaccum to run the petcock.
Prime=to run the motor
On= will shut the fuel off now.
I'm not a big fan of the 20mm's but they run ok.
What's the compression?

I just put a new piston in a few months ago. It has plenty of compression. Could it be possible I may have an electrical problem causing it have a weak spark. I thought it may be the stator at first. When I do get it started it runs fine. It has really got me stumped .

Seems an ohm meter is needed to check the resistance on the stator and coil. Sorry i don't know the specs. One is 175-185 but I forget which one,.
