2006 Predator 90 vs 2007 Outlaw 90
I am going to buy a Polaris 90. My dealer has a 2006 90 (2stroke) and a 2007(4stroke) 90.
The price difference is $300, not a big amount if you use it and keep it a while.
I am trying to decide if I should get the 2 stroke and get the proven machine or take a chance and buy the new model 4 stroke.
I drove the 4 stroke around the parking lot and it had plenty of power to haul me around(225lbs). I just worry about buying a first year model of a Polaris. I bought a Phoenix when they first came out and am paying the price for that in electrical part replacements.
The only thing that puts a time limit on it is there is only one 2006 left at the shop where I am going to buy it. Anybody have any comments or suggestions on which one they would choose?
Thanks Randy

Hi,
My daughter has a 2005 & 2006 Predator 90. I am happy with them both. They have racing modifications on them, and they are both really fast machines. Even when her 05 was a stock, it was still a quick machine.
I haven't trail tested the 4 stroke, so I can't give an opinion on it - but here is some things to keep in mind: 2 strokes are cheaper to repair. Also, you are right, a lot of 1st year models usually have "bugs" that need to be worked out. Look at the 2003 Predator 90 compared to the 05 & 06. The newer models have very few problems compared to what the 03's had.
We considered the 07 Predator 4 stroke over an 06 Predator 2-stroke and ended up going with the 2-stroke for the exact reasons I listed above. My daughter races every weekend, so we needed a machine that had proven dependability. Her 05 went through 80 motocross races with the only break-down being a chain falling off. If that isn't proven performance, I don't know what is.
Good luck in your decision. If you do get the 4-stroke, let us know how you like it. It looks like it's going to be a great little machine.

Also how big is your youngster?
The Outlaw 90 is set on a bigger chasis than the Predator 90 is.
We love the Pred 90 for my oldest boy. My local dealer only has 1 left so we are probably going to buy it too for the next youngster to step up from the Raptor 50 before the Pred 90 gets too hard to find.

Yes the Outlaw wheelbase is around 4"'s longer and 3"'s or so wider in the rear. They were within about 25lbs of each other also.
For racing the 2 stroke would probably be the clear winner. We are into trails. Basically cruising on the trails. I guess if I keep trying to make up my mind they will sell the '06 and then the decison would be made for me,lol.
One thing that swayed me into indecsion was when I went to ride the 4 stroke. The dealer pulled one out and started it. It ran a few seconds, died and we couldn't get it to start again. He went and got another one it started but had to run a long time to warm up before it could be ridden. I was leaning towards the 4 stroke till that happened and I haven't been back since, still trying to make up my mind.
One thing for sure is the best atv is the one that runs when you want it to. Especially when kid's are involved.
