Eton 50 carb/choke problem
#1
Hi all.Newbie here.I just scored a 2000 lightening 50 for the kids.It had sat for 3 years with old gas,and would not run.I cleaned the carb, still wouldnt run. Then I noticed a problem with a warped reed.I got new ones, and now she will run good.( purrs like a kitten)The electric choke didnt seem to be working,so my local dealer sells me a manual choke kit.I installed it,but I noticed there is no needle valve in the bottom ( like the electric choke had ) I cant get the choke to work. All it does is flood the engine. Even if only opened slightly. Its allowing too much gas to go in.AT LEAST THAT IS MY THEORY RIGHT NOW. Do I have something out of adjustment? I,m stumped???

Insaneindmembrane,
I don't know if this will help. Here is a thread where the forum member converted their electric choke over to manual on a Eton 90.<a target=new class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://forums.atvconnection.com/messageview.cfm?catid=10&threadid=502698&highlight _key=y&keyword1=choke">

That homemade cure was quite a good idea. Goes to show what can be done with a little brain power..I took the new manual choke cable back off today.I,m going to take it along with the old electric choke to an atv dealer. And try to match up a choke plunger that has a needle valve. Its a mikuni so it shouldnt be hard to do.I,ll keep ya posted..

I was playing with that electric choke. If you hook it up directly to a battery it doesnt seem to do anything.Wrong..It heats up slowly and begins to move.Takes a couple minuites..There is some type of heating element inside
