Review - Assembly of Raceway Mini Utility
#1
I ordered one of these mini utes from Raceway and received on Friday, here are my initial thoughts:
Estes Express......all I can say is WTF are you guys doing? Do you play soccer with packages or what? It reminds me of Ace Ventura Pet Detective. I noticed the carboard on the backside of the shipping container was ripped, so I feared the worst. I opened it up and sure enough, the plastic was broken in at least five different spots. Needless to say I will never use them for anything I have to ship.
Jetmoto......Is the manufacturer of said ATV. I have come to learn alot about Jetmoto machines from this site. As far as I can tell, their sport machines are among the best in quality. I look at the mini ute and can't help but wonder if they don't put as much care into it. I believe Jetmoto builds this exclusively for Raceway, as I don't see it on Jetmoto's site. All in all, it looks like a solid little machine. MOST of the welds look alright, and the dual A-arm front suspension looks like it will take some abuse. The rear mono shock feels like your bouncing on a pogo stick. It actually feels like there isn't a schock there, just a spring. I noticed the left rear taillight bulb was the wrong one, and wasn't seated in the socket when I got it. How can you not notice that it's the wrong bulb? It doesn't fit the socket for crying out loud. They only sent me three of the mounts required to mount the handlebars, so needless to say, junior can't ride it.
Now for the good. The machine fired right up after I did the initial carb adjustments, and it purred like a kitten. The alarm is loud enough to wake the dead, though I doubt we will ever use it, it is neat. I love the remote electric start and shutoff as well; and it has a great range to it. Kudos to Jetmoto for such a great safety feature. Assembly was a breeze and I found out that most of the bolts already were loctited. The only things I had to do were change the oils, put a bolt in each of the three shocks to mount them (they were paritally unassembled to aid in shipping), fill the battery (cheap chinese battery), mount the handlebars (when I get my other mount), connect the battery, check all of the bolts for tightness, adjust the carb, and bingo, ready to go.
My thoughts on this ATV:
Positive: Good strong dual control arm front suspension, good looks, engines are smooth running and easy to adjust, most everything is easy to get to without any disassembly, Working headlights and taillights are nice and bright (very functional), K&N style air filter, grease fittings on all moving suspension parts, manual choke on the bars, good ergonomic fit from seat to bars to floorboards, user and parts manuals (athough not entirely accurate),bought from Raceway.
Negative: Do not buy the tree camo versions (this will peel at the slightest hit that it takes), the plastic is very hard and brittle, oil dipstick is behind the floorboard plastic and is hard to get to, rear shock is more spring than shock, rear chain and brake guards are flimsy.
Am I happy with this ATV?.....you bet. It was a good bargain at a little over 700$. Am I worried about the condition it arrived in?.......nope. I bought it from Raceway, and I know they will send me the new parts/missing parts I need.
I will follow this up with a full review after my son has had a chance to ride it and break it in........and oh, I almost forgot,......Estes Express, rot in he((.

According to John, they are Jetmoto products, although I am starting to wonder. Tonight, I was putting it into the shed, mind you it still hasn't been ridden, and I decided to put the rear up on a jackstand because I noticed noise coming from the axle. With it up in the air, I spun the wheels by hand, and low and behold, it sounded like the axle bearings making noise. I am going to take the chain off this week sometime and make sure that's where the noise is coming from.....we'll see. I am starting to doubt the quality of this product and whether or not it truly is a Jetmoto. It's starting to sound like a SUNL to me. The sad part is, I sold my son's Meerkat to help pay for this new quad for him, and now he has something he can't ride. He was so excited when we got it, but he still is not dissapointed yet. But, if he soon doesn't get to ride it, and I have to look at dissapointment on his face, well watch out, because that's when the father in me will come out on this site. I have patience though, and I know John will come through for me, but somebody soon better convince me that this quad is a Jetmoto product, because that's what I was told I was buying. So Eugene, if you read on here, please confirm these mini utes are your products.

Whatever you need you know you got it! Just give me a call. And Jetmoto does not make this unit. They get them for us from overseas at one of the higher quality factories! I think you will be very happy with the ATV. We have had very good luck with them.

That's why I bought from you John. And I have to tell you, I in no way fault you on the condition of this quad. Those jerks from Estes Express did a number on it. Anyone who wonders why to buy from Raceway, read Raceway's post to me and there will be your answer. John to the rescue once again!

I am new to this group and to the mini atv world(and chinese especially).
I bought what seems to be the same atv for my 6yr old son. He had at first gotten a Fushion 110 (smaller) race style from Santa, but I traded in on this model to give him a few more years of riding before he outgrows it. I bought it from a local dealer and it was preassembled. So far, so good. I have had to remove the left rear wheel and cotter pin and push the assembly in tighter to stop the axle sleave from rattling. Bought a new better battery (saved headaches).
I do now hear a clanking under the chain cover on the motor. Need to check with the dealer on this one.
He loves it, he's careful, so it doesnt really get abused (yet). I have ridden it myself and it hauls my 160lb but pretty nicely.
Thanks for the forumn and for not bashing the buyers of offbrand chinese atv's. As long as it lasts long enough for him to grow out of it. I have definitely gotten my moneys worth.

Welcome to the forums dor kee dad! I took mine apart tonight and it too was the axle sleeve. I can't say I like the axle design on these quads. It's a splined axle and splined hub, but the hub is not welded to the axle or held in place by anything but a flimsy sleeve over the axle. I think I am going to make the hub on this a more permanent fit to the axle, just figuring out how I want to do it. MYQ, haven't talked to you in a while, I will post some pics of this quad soon and you can compare to your 50's.

that's so strange about my "name" needing to be split. Funny how the site let me use it as my name then bans it inside. ANywho..
godIlove2ride..Let me know how you decide do it. I did not like that much myself.
Keep me posted on what you run into on yours and what you think of it. I dont mind turning a wrench, but havent done it much. I end up having to figure out how to fix what I broke before I can fix what I tried to fix...

First ride update:
Thanks to John my son got the handlebar mount he needed overnighted to him just in time to ride it the new snow we got today. I must say we are both impressed with this quad so far. The battery holds a charge for about a day or two, but I already planned on changing it anyway. I replaced the plug with an NGK, mounted the bars and fired it up, ready for its first ride. My son zipped around the front yard in about 5 inches of fresh snow and had a blast! I had to yell at him (and laugh at the same time) because he wouldn't stop doing doughnuts in the yard. I was impressed with the power this quad and the stability so far, although it was in the snow so I will have to fully judge the stability later. The mini ute never even once threw a fit at the punishment my little one was giving it. I even rode it and it hauled me around pretty fast (170 lbs.) All I can say is thanks Raceway for putting a huge smile on my son's face. I took video of him doing his doghnuts and will try to post it soon. I am also going to make an assembly manual for this and post it for future buyers of this quad.
