LT80, need help PLEASE!
#1
i have a 05 LT80 and it hasnt been running for a while. it ran fine a few months ago at the track, parked it for about an hour and went to start it back up and it wouldnt start. finally i got the chance to work on it. i changed the plug, cleaned the carburetor, took the fuel bowl off and cleaned all of that and the main jet. it still wont start. so i took it to my friends house and he just called me and told me that he did a compression test and it read 50 and he seems to think its pretty low. he said he thinks he should be atleast 90. he told me it needs piston rings. what i need to know is, is this what the problems is? if so, what all do i need and where can i get everything i need and about how much am i looking at? im tight on money, im trying to sell it but i cant sell it when its not running. thank you in advance

90 would be low.
You need your cylinder bored and a new piston kit (next size bigger is .05) .
New piston/rings/pin/bearing/gaskets are about 60 bucks and boring 40 or so.
No reason you cannot do the labor yourself tho.
Use Zuki parts.

Dear God I hope you get this:
Long of the Short, Son's B-day this Sat., no time to send 2004 lt80 to shop, can't get it to run worth a crap. Idles good, starts good, bogs when fed the gas. Sometimes she will wind out and run great untill you let off for say a corner then get back on the gas.....bogs, sometimes it's revvin out and bogs without letting off the gas. When it bogs, it gives off some nasty blue smoke. Compression is over 120, new plug, new wire, new gas, took air filter out, played with choke, checked gas flow, pulled apart the mechanism that controls gas ie, prime, on, reserve, diaphram inside was only half wet??? Though this may be problem, called dealership was told not to waste my money. Do these quads have a fuel filter?? Had a buddy pull apart carb and clean it,,, I only seen him poke out one jet though, I've read quite a few forums that mention two jets and a needle and seat?? Should I go after this animal again.
I'm in a panik now, any assitance would be greatly appreciated.

Well Marty, Take a deep breath.
I see everytjing done but what's needed.
I think a simple carb cleaning is in order..Something is shutting off the main jet. Remove the carb, then float bowl. Remove both jets and clean, making sure the lil holes are open.
You should also take the float off and remove the needle seat and clean.
Spray everything with cleaner well.
I bet it'll run just fine then.
