Default 2 machines on blocks

I have 2 yamoto quads. both are having the same problem, they will not start. The 150 has been used for maybe 2 hours and then would not longer start. I cleaned the carb, replaced the plug, looked at the fuel filter and checked the air filter. The battery has died so I turn it over using jumper cables to my van. the engine turns over fine but will not start. I pulled the plug again and held my finger over the plug space and felt for compression--seems ok. the plug will give a good blue spark when held against the frame. I even installed a new carb from raceway and replaced the spark plug. The 110 also will not start, but at least I have been able to use it for 50+ hours. I did the same troubleshooting on the 110 plus I adjusted the pin in the carb. temp today was about 60 so that should not be problem. My wife and I were hoping to take our 6 boys riding next week but I can not get the machines going. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I

Welcome to the forums bikeonbench. First off, you've got spark, do you have air and fuel? Pull your fuel hose at the carb coming from the tank. Are you getting a steady flow? Reattach it, and open the drain screw on the bottom of the carb bowl. Do you have fuel from it? Next do you have any restriction in your airbox? Clean it out good. If you have fire, air, and fuel, click here to set up your carb as stated on this thread. Not sure what you meant by you adjusted the pin in the carb. What pin?

I appreciate your response. I do have plenty of fuel coming from the carb side of the fuel filter if I disconnect. The pin that I adjusted was the needle that comes into the top of the carb and sticks through the bottom of the slide. I just moved it one notch. I also took out the air filter to make sure that air flow was not impeded. Since I have spark, this has to be a fuel problem, but the engine shows no signs of wanting to start whatsoever.

On my 150 it has an electric choke, so I do not know how to disable it.

I must be missing something basic, since I am having the same problem on both machines. Every time I turn the engine over I make sure that the key is on and go through a checklist.

When you have pulled the plug, what condition is it in? Meaning is it wet or dry, color? A quick thing you can do is to pull the plug and put a bit of gas and/or starting fluid right into the cylinder, If she is capable of firing and running, then the starter fluid will get it to run, albeit briefly. Seems like you have checked off on the spark, so if the ether directly in the cylinder starts it I would check the valve tolerances, because fuel isn't getting to the cylinder somehow.

Pretty much any type would do. Save yourself a trip to the store and just use a bit of gas first. Try that and if it starts then make sure you have gas flow INSIDE the carb. Check that the floats aren't sticking and what not. Most carbs have some sort of drain on the bottom, open it up and see if fuel flows out.

Today I tried the starter fluid 4 or 5 times with no luck. Also made sure that the idle on the carb was adjusted. Still will not start This may be a stupid question, but do bikes have timing adjustments, and could this be the problem?

Can you borrow a compression tester? I,d give it a test to see where you stand.
