Unison used to be made in Taiwan. Their quality was good in the beginning. Now, they're made in China, and the quality has gone down the toilet :/

I read this post a couple months ago. They're basically saying that they're made in China now to cut costs, make cheaper bikes, so they can make more money.

That is too bad. Our little Desert Cat 90 is a great quad. Glad I got when we did.

And they call that great news?!

I think its all publicity. They knew it was going to get out that they're now Chinese made ATVs, so instead of looking sneeky, they tried to let it out first... and tried to spin it in a possitive way. "if you love our unison bikes, now you can get them for cheaper!" Yeah right lol! We're not sheep, we're smarter than that. All I know is that I'm not going to risk my kids safety on a bike with a manufacturer thats cutting corners to make more profit off of me.

That usually seems to be the case. A company opens up being top notch. Once they have that image, they get greedy.

i bought my boy a coolster 110.even though the chassis isnt up to par with the jap/tiawan brands is been a good machine and problem free.hes won two 2nd places on it drag racing, got beat by a ktm 60 bike and his sisters modded predator
my buddy just bought his boy one as well and spent less than $600

other than honda i think ALL othe "jap" mini's are now built in tiawan, and most other than polaris have crap suspension anyway

I'm pleased with the 06 eton viper 70 we got for our 6 year old last year, zero problems so far and it's been rode hard. I was more concerned with safety for my kid rather than which runs circles around the other, adjustable cdi, throttle stop, tether shut off,a horn to warn my dogs, optional remote and excellent rear disc brakes,I'll admit it will run pretty good with my 170lb a** on it at 25.5 mph and has a 190lb rider rating which is alot more weight than the others can handle. I spent hours researching honda, suzuki, kawasaki and yamaha's reviews on all aspects before I spent my cash but I cant knock the other atv's on the market.

Hey 79hugger, good for you.

I think Eton makes good quads that are well thought out with kids in mind, and have more features than the other manufacturers. We have an '07 four-stroke Viper 90R, and it has worked pretty good so far (although it had a few carb problems in the winter). We REALLY enjoy the reverse, which the other small quads don't really have. The headlights are a bit dim (unlike the Kymcos), but at least it has them. Also, we put big 22" mudlite tires on the rear, and now it goes through the mud like you would not believe.

The next step for us is to put a 35-tooth sprocket on the rear (it now has a 28), because the big rear tires really suck the power. We just bought an aluminum sprocket and new chain yesterday, and will put in on in the next week or so. (I wasn't too happy to learn that I had to replace the chain - apparently you cannot just add more links.) Also, I hope the lower (metal) chain guard will not be in the way of the new sprocket! (The upper plastic one definitely will have to be extended or removed.) Does anyone know if the aluminium sprockets get bent easily?

We also recently bought an '07 Eton Vector 250, which is a joy to ride, and has great featrures. I hear from the importer, however, that it may be a bit fussy starting and idling in the winter as well, and needs a good warm-up. We'll see soon enough, but in the meantime it has preformed nicely on the trails, and run well. It also has a good suspension and great headlights.

My 2 Roketa 250's are still blasting these mountains in Virginia. I would indeed, do it again.

If a person enjoys wrenching, and takes the time to set the quad up right and sticks to a healthy regimen of preventative maintenance( bolts, chain, lube, etc..) then a chinquad is a money saver. If you are trying to see if your kids enjoy the sport without spending big money, then the chinquads are right for you. On the other hand, I have had terrible issues with warranty parts, communication with the distributor, and overall dissatisfaction with the distributor. The quads in my opinion are pretty good, shabbily thrown together but easily fixed, providing you can get parts. I have a unit that is 2 yrs old, my son raced it, all we ever did to it was eliminate the restrictors, re-jetted it, opened up the air intake, smaller sprocket, still holds just as much compression as it did when new. 2 yrs of racing it and we will race it next year too. by the way, he took the local track championship the last 2 years. The other side of the coin: I have a 200cc unit that has gone thru 2 carbs, thermostat cover (plastic) broke which burnt the hell out of my leg, the battery box fell out while riding, front plastic broke for no apperant reason. (bad cast?) gone thru 2 chain tensioners, hoses are at impossible angles and tend to crack, cooling fan switch fried, clutch safety assy broke, and I had to reweld nearly every weld on it as the factory welds were porous, undercut, and off-joint.
To summarize all this, if you can afford a name brand buy it. If you don't ant to work on the quad alot, then buy a name brand.

I have a buddy that used to sell that crap for years but got out of it because of all the hasles of poeple wanting money back or fixing stuff non stop. Yeah the problems may be minor but for how many of those problems encountered is not worth it. They come from the factory in big boxes semi assembled and I used to complete the setup for my friend for quite a while. Made them ready to run. I have personally put together at least a couple hundred of them over the years, all makes and models, and have came across so many problems its not even funny. Out of a shipment of about 50 units we would end up with at least 5 - 8 parts quads because of some stupid reason or another. Just cheap, cheap, cheap a#% parts everywhere. From shocks, brakes, carbs, CDI's, stators was a huge one, the problems were always there no mater which of the chinese brands or models.

With the economy going down the drain everyone should just keep buying cheap crap and sending more dollars over seas. That way you won't have to worry about going to work or making your house payments. Hilary will just take care of everything for you and you can just sit around the house.
