Default Big name brand atv's VS. the little chinese

let me tell you about my experience. I bought a 110cc china atv, it ran for one full day, then quit. battery wouldnt stay charged. got a new battery then the exhaust was rattling around, next thing i know the intake manifold(i think) was cracked. it is a POS!!! I am so pissed! I am a single mom, this was the most expensive birthday present I had ever bought for my son. I could not afford a "name brand" I mean I knew it was of lesser quality-but for $550, I thought maybe it wouldlast one summer!!!! I have to haul this thing back and forth from where I bought it over 200miles round trip. which has cost me out the butt too. the man will not give me a different one, nor will he give me my money back. he says its fixed. its been back at his store for 2 weeks, I dont even want to go get it, cause I know it will fall apart again and I will just be pissed again.. I dont have anyone to work on it, and I cant pawn it off on anyone else, either. I know someone else will be buying it for their kid. so I am screwed out of $550 bucks, and my son has no birthday present.

Well your not the first to have this complaint nor will you be the last.. I would say list the quad on Craigslist for what you paid for it. Someone is bound to buy the piece. I felt the same way when I sold mine. I actually felt bad for the person who bought it. But what can you do. I was able to sell mine for a little over half of what I paid for it in 2005. After you sell it, buy a nice used name brand quad. Craigslist is the best place for nice used quads and motorcycles. I sold my Chinese quad in 1 day and was able to find a nice replacement for a great price.

I am a newb with ATVs, I am absolutely not mechanically inclined, and can't fathom spending $3000 on a fun machine. ...So I spent $900 on a Kazuma Falcon 110 Deluxe. I am rough on it.. some small jumps (less than a foot off the ground).. and haul *** on it everywhere I go on trails.. 70% of the time my wife and I are both on it reaching close to 300 lbs. of weight. I have hauled cut up tree logs in a little wagon/trailer up an extremely steep rocky incline back and forth for hours... I have had it for almost a year and a half now.

You ready for this..? I have yet to have ONE problem with it. (knock on wood!) Had to tighten the chain once, but thats normal wear.. also a leaky front tire.. again normal wear. Will I ever buy a name brand? Sure, if I was rich or didn't have more important things to spend money on. Would I buy another Kazuma? Hell yes.

I recently purchased a 110cc Chinese quad for my son. It's his first real quad. He's driven mine a lot with me on it so I could show him how to drive it properly. I decided to purchase a Chinese quad because I know he won't be driving it every day, maybe 2-3 times a month. I couldn't justify spending the money on a major brand quad for him. The next time around I will because he'll be riding more in 2 or 3 years. I'm not afraid to turn a wrench and fix some parts. In <u>my opinion</u>, if it's mechanical, it will have problems. Some more then others. For the amount of time he'll be on it, Chinese was the way to go.

My $.02 cents.

Find my other thread here and decide for yourself.

My answer is NO!

I AM very capable of repairing/upgrading/maintaining any vehicle. My Yamoto 110 is a POS. I gave it 100% support at first, but the build quality and engineering behind these rip-offs are pure crap. They just fall apart.

Most supporters seem to bring up the "IF you maintain it", over and over again. The point is to ENJOY them not constantly fix them.

NO! NO! NO!

Well, my dad was traveling through Texas between Brackettville and Pasadena (i live in the middle) when he saw these 500$ atvs and told me ecstatically about them. See I grew up on 3/4 wheelers from 50cc 4stroke to the 500cc quadracer, and he just wanted to see my kids on one. We discussed the idea of him bringing one home and i was very skeptical of the quality, I live in a nice neighborhood and dont need some 250lb POS lying around. He assured me he thought they were fairly solid for the price, but i gave him no thumbs up... He left for Pasadena and returned with one of the 'China quads', a cool sports 110 (i forget the exact #, to lazy to go to the garage), not the exact one he saw earlier but the same price.

The kids have ridden it for one day, about 6 hours worth, and 3 of those are me and another child. I weigh 190 and I have children that weigh from 35lbs to 110, I have ridden with ALL of them. That?s roughly 300lbs on the atv, it seems fine with the weight, off road and up hills. I've been merciless on it, if its gonna break, let it be NOW. I can say that with the time I have spent on it my expectations have been exceeded. Its got cool features like the wireless kill and lock out modes, REVERSE (something no atv i ever rode had).

But long-term is where the value is, isnt it? I don?t mean resale, i mean how will it hold up? I guess i dont know, but after rallying the poor little thing i did some inspecting, found no major flaws. I have some welding/fabrication background and currently work for an auto dealership in service; drawing from my experience I can say they definitely cut some corners. Some of the tubing looks undersized, the welds look satisfactory though. The parts just "look" cheap, the castings are slightly rough. None of this means they will break/bend, but the odds are up IMO. Just looking at it, I expect it to break, and when it does I'll try to fix it or improve it [img][/img] This should be fun, I plan on letting the kids (ok and me little to) ride the HELL out of it this weekend, I'll try to post an update soon. If it holds up well i may part with some $$$ and get another.

If Value=Price/Quality it will take time to see where the value is. I could never buy 4 little quads for my kids, if they are one of the big 4, but I can buy 3 of these plus a 150 or 200 china quad Today. I suppose if you expect a Mercedes but bought a Kia, your going to be unhappy, but HEY! You Bought A Kia! If you want a Mercedes, pay for it. This is no Honda, but it didn?t come with a Honda price tag either [img][/img]</end quote></div>

UPDATE: As of today, I have ran about 2 dozen tanks of gas through the machine. Other then gas I have spent 3.25 on 4 bolts (only needed one, but they came as a 4 pack) and 3.85 on a fuel filter to replace one that was leaking. We've mud'd it, trail rode it, popped wheelies (ok, i have), road on the two left tires, road on the two right tires. My future concerns include changing fluids and the suspension is starting to squeak. Thats all i have for now, your all free to make up your own mind on the reliability of ANY brand of ATV, my experience has been good with this quad and this brand so far.

i was contemplating on saving 1800 dolars too. but my good judgement took over and bought a honda trx90. i own a business and bought "crappy delivery compact cars" kia's and hyundais--they're all dead now. i went back to stripped down corollas they're still making me money. i wont make that costly mistake again in my new found recreation.

btw, my son is beating the living snot of this bike, no problems whatsoever. ( odo: est: 90 miles in 2 months)

would i do it different if i had to it again? NOOOOOO! year and a half the 2 i have left i running great, sure there were minor issues in the beginning but they were resolved and since then all is good.

my sons redcat 150 is a tough little machine takes a beating and keeps on ticking.

the falcon 110 is also running strong for the new owner engine and tranny are holding up good with 2 kids beating on it.

and i also keep on mantinence and check things over alot.

if you know how to work on them they are worth what you pay for them.

the falcon 250 has a easy life doesnt get beat to bad but it still runs good except for some goofy chain slap noise wich i suspect is the chain tensioner oh well.
