Looking for a starter quad!
#1
Hello, everyone! I'm fairly new here but have been lurking for quite some time now.
I am looking for a cheap starter quad for my son. He is 5 and big for his age. I have done alot of research through local searches and this valuable forum and have arrived at a couple of possibilities. I am looking at the Kazuma Mini Falcon Deluxe 90 or another quad that I came across in my hours of searching, The Lifan LF70ST-6. I have seen both of these in person. The Lifan is a bit smaller than the Kazuma, but seems to have a better fit and finish than the Kazuma. I'm thinking the Lifan may be a little too small and that he will outgrow it too fast. I would rather get him something that is a little bigger and that he will grow into and have some time to use.
I have read alot about the pitfalls of the Chinese machines and am confident that I have enough wrenching skills to set one up and keep the thing going, so the Japanese versions are definitely out due to their price. I like to tinker with my stuff anyway.
Does anyone have any suggestions as far as other machines or more info that they could share about the two that I've listed?
Does the Kazuma Mini Falcon Deluxe 90 sound too big for a 5 year old?

My Raceway mini ute 100 fits my 5 year old well, with a little bit of room to grow, but it is just the right size. Not to mention it has a throttle limiter that you can adjust, a lanyard type kill switch, and a remote to start, kill, and set the alarm. It comes with two remotes and has an awesome range. It looks just like one you would have for your car. I carry mine with me all the time, and if my son gets overly brave, I shut it off on him.

Phoenix200, yeah I understand what you're saying as far as the federal labels go. But my son sitting on one of the 50cc machines is down-right comical! His knees interfere with the steering of the machine. He is definitely a candidate for the mid-sized category.
2manytoys, are you talking about the Jetmoto 110cc on the Raceway website? It looks like it may be slightly larger than the Kazuma Mini Falcon Deluxe 90. It's definitely more expensive.
I found out that we have a local Kazuma distributor warehouse near me. I contacted them and they quoted me a price through their website using ebike of $599 for the Mini Falcon Deluxe. I would be saving the shipping cost by picking it up myself.
The only thing that I don't really like about the Kazuma is that the foot brake seems to be in a bad location. It seems like it would be hard to ride it without your foot riding on the brakes all the time.
