LT80 Mods for the Dunes
We have a 2004 LT80 that we bought new for my oldest son. He was 7 and weighed about 60 lbs. when we bought the bike. Now he's 10 and is pushing 80 lbs or so and needs more power. We're running Kenda Sand Gecko's now, looking to switch to a 6 paddle Skat Trak Glider (Less weight, Less hook-up).
The only mods to the bike now are a UNI filter in the stock airbox. I did run a compression check and it's at 118 PSI. The reeds are most likely up for replacement.
My questions are this.. I found a smoking deal on a CT pipe/Silencer at a local shop. I don't think I want to port the cylinder just yet. Can I install the CT Pipe, Re-Jet (If Needed), replace the reeds, and expect a power increase?
What about changing the chain/sprockets? I found a kit from MidwestMini.com that claims less rolling resistance and increased top speed. Any input there? Also, what is out there for clutch mods? I spoke with the people at CT Racing about the clutch, and they want my clutch for a week and $90, but she couldn't tell me what they modify. Is it the rollers? Does this clutch use weights?
Any input is greatly appreciated.

You can use the CT pipe.
Their mods are to the rear clutch.
Gearing up may hurt take-off big in the sand. Your gearing is fine IMO. Raising rpm's is the issue.
Take 2 rollers out of the front clutch
Cut the rear clutch shoes down to 180 grams each
Shave the head .030
90 main jet
You may have to expierement with roller weight, but 4 rollers is a good starting point.
There ya go, free advise thanks to ATV Connection.
IMO these are the only mods needed till motor work is done.

LT80 Mods for the Dunes
I went ahead and bought the CT pipe and put it on. Started with a new plug and did a plug chop. Coloe with the stock main jet is a little darker than a paper sack (Just a Hair rich). I'm going to leave it alone. I'm now looking for some mods on the reeds and I'm going to do some clutch mods. Any more pointers???

I bought the sprocket kit you are talking about for the Lt80. It worked great for the first two hours. It helped with acceleration, but the rear aluminum sprocket rolled over within a few hours of riding. Chain tension was okay when installed, not sure if the extra roller would have stopped the teeth on the sprocket from rolling over and stripping out. Maybe I did something wrong, but $75 down the tube within three hours. Take your chances, if you have good luck - let me know.

LT80 Mods for the Dunes
If you've got the time I've got another LT80 dune question. I'd like to not spend any money but do "free" mods at this point. I've got a 100% stock LT80 that has Skat Traks 6 paddles on it. Would taking out 2 of the rollers and leaving the other 4 do any good? I really don't want to shave the rear clutches, if it is avoidable. I just want his bike to have a little more umph on the longer / steeper dunes. Would just taking out 2 rollers with no other changes do any good?
