Default Hi Bird

Hi all. I am a new-b to this site, as well as new to quads and have previously entered a topic about HiBird in a wrong category, for that I apologize. I do how -ever think a few here have seen my topic and commented, thank you. Not sure but think I have been had. Ordered a new Hi Bird from, azsupply located in Edmond,OK...$925..shipped to my door. With the discounts they advertised in the E-Bay ad, said to call, thus I bought direct/not through E-Bay. Received the quad today , assembled it and checked all other nuts and bolts finding only a few that were loose. But the quad I received is different from the pic they advertized.
1. The shocks are not the auto shock I see on all the other 150 and larger Hi Birds
2. There was no stickers on it. There was stickers included that say ( TIERRA )
3. The owners manual says ...Tierra motorsports....
4. The tires were also smaller, 21-7-8 an 20-9.5-8 was advertised, I received 19-7-8 an 19-9.5-8 on the machine.
5. Called and talked to sells rep @ tires, his reply was a safety issue with the bigger tires. My thought was why did he not mention this when I bought and paid for it.
6. Have I been duked? Althgough we haven't had it out on a trail yet, seems to run through the yard OK. But is it a Hi Bird. I would appreciate any and all replies.

To be honest, there's no way you can be sure if its "the same company" as hi-bird, but you can definately bet on it being from china... I dont know how familiar you are with china-bikes, but there can be several different atv's made by different companies, under different names, that all look the same.

It does look like you got the ol' "switcheroo" on it, but hopefully the components are similar to the Hi-Bird you ordered.

Hi-Bird has made a good name for itself, from what i've heard, and i have run into quite a few satisfied customers.. as for 'Tierra', i'm not really sure, thats the first i've heard of it, but you can bet on many of the parts being the same or very similar to the "Hi-Bird" that you supposedly bought.

Either way, you're going to be the judge on if you got your money's worth on this one, simply by goin out and riding the thing. I myself, am very pleased with my Hi-Bird, and I would be lying out my teeth if i said i havent had any problems with it, BUT, to me, fiddlin' around with these things is half the fun. If you dont mind fixing little issues here and there, you should be pretty pleased overall.. they're fun little machines.

thanks nrmarine, your right, there is many parts the same. Spoke to customer rep. and he assured me that this is an updated version of the product, so much for what you see is what you get. will ahve to ride this weekend to find out how it operates.
Was directed to www.VBIKE.USA.com where it is pictured as I received. Hey the kids happy with it so guess I'll let it rest.

Glad to hear he's happy with it! Just make sure you're checking nuts and bolts every now and then to make sure nothing's loosening up on you.. I've lost a couple myself, just off the plastic body. (I did the ghetto zip-tie fix and hit the trails again..)

Let me know how everything goes, I'm curious as to how other chin-quads function.. any problems yet?

You can look at the front of your bike and there is an I.D. Sticker between the front wheels.I'll bet it say's Hi-Bird on it as well as the date it was made. There are so many company's out there selling the Hi-Bird with thier own name on it such as v-Bike,Komoto,Hurricane,They are all pretty much the same I think you will be very happy with it.

Hi nrmarine,....the weekend went well, almost without a hitch. Kinda hate to admit it,but I made the first mistake by not shutting off fuel supply, after loading the quad for its trip to the farm. Took better part of 1/2 hour to dry the thing out before it would start. The ride went well, not one complaint thus far. Starts and runs great. Done the wheel check @ 1hr. into the ride, after the cleanup on Sun. I checked remainder of the nuts and bolts to find them all intact and tight. Might just be that my checking before the ride, secured the ones that needed that 1/4 turn that made the difference.
I think that the summary for this is
Quad.. delivered to door......$925.
Smile on sons face while riding......Priceless
Have a great day

ahhh... another satisfied Hi-Bird owner. I think these things are proving to be worth it. I went out and destroyed some trails last night, and the Bird actually goes pretty well through the woods. one bolt to watch for is the one on the muffler side of the exhaust. I lost that one after a week or so of riding. Lot of vibration.. understandable.

You made out good getting it for 925. I should have been more patient and bargain hunted a little more. I paid 1250 for my Tornado 200, because the guy drove it out to me that day, and it was already assembled.

Question, we have a 200CC in route. So, I was wondering has anyone tried blue or red lock tight? Or, locking nuts?

Ride Free,
Doug
