I have a suzuki lt80 that set for a long time and the gas crystallized. I have cleaned out the carb several times and got it running, but it is slow to take off and hesitates badly. Once it is up to speed it runs fine. Any suggestions?

I changed them out for new. Any other suggestions? Would a new carb be necessary?

No, as long as you cleaned it out. You have to make sure you cleaned everthing that the gas touches. Fuel tank, peacock(if equipped) , main jet, etc.

Maybe. Carbs do go bad from said gunk in it.
I agree w/101, remove both jets and clean thoroughly.remove the needle seat also and clean.
Try the petcock on prime to see if the fuel flow is a problem.
New plug? Pipe plugged?

It sounds to me like the machine is not getting enough air. If you have taken the carb off, then I am sure you know where the air filter is. If you are still running the stock filter, throw it away and put a new " UNI Filter on the machine. This will allow the machine the breath much, much better. And while you have the filter off, go ahead and take the carb back off and clean it once again and put the next biggest fuel jet in the carb. You can get the jet at your local Suzuki dealer. The same place you will need to get the new air filter from. Good Luck.
