Suzuki LT 80-not starting
#1
Hello, new to your forum.
I read most the treads regarding "starting issues" on the lt80, but i might have another problem. The bike just quit. I first charged the battery and replaced with a new one. I cleaned the carb and blew out all jets. I replaced the plug and checked the spark. It cranks and has compression. There is spark(i don't know if the spark is strong enough?) It just won't start up. Before I spend big bucks, i thought i would ask you guys for some help. Could my stator or coil be the culprit? If it is the coil, why do I get some spark? Any help will be appreciated......

Seeins you did your homework and cleaned and cheacked things (good job!), I think pulling the flywheel and sanding the stator could be a good thing. I've seen it happen before.
Try that and we'll go from there.

LT80, Thanks for the help. I did get it started, but it took a while and had to jump it. It had compression, but not a lot. So anyway, I pulled the head and found the problem.
I bought the bike earlier this year and was told that the top end was new. It did run good. Anyway, the rings were worn paper thin. So I pulled the head and dropped it off to the local machinist and it's getting bored now and ordered new rings, piston, pin, clips, roller bearing and gaskets. Should have it running next week. I'll let you know how it goes...
