Predator or outlaw 90?
Well it sounds like nobody has had any major problems with either of the two models, so that's basically what I wanted to know. I am sort of leaning towards the Outlaw, being it's the newer model, and I'll be buying another one in a year or so for my youngest son, that way they'll have nearly the same quad.

Outlaw faster than the Predator? I am not so sure about that. The Predator's engine is lighter, and makes more power. My 5 year old got one for Christmas (governed WAY down). I took the screw out and rode it. I could drift it with no problem. Would estamate 40+mph with my big butt on it...</end quote></div>
We have both. I guaranteed my son that little sisters new 4-stroke Outlaw would be slower than his 2 stroke Predator. The first time they lined up that pink Outlaw just walked away from the Predator and did so every time with different riders. Stock the Predator is really corked up. But with new pipe, filter, clutches and CDI it destroys the Outlaw now.
Your 40+ mph estimate is pretty optimistic. By radar gun our Outlaw 90 does around 28 mph stock and the Predator did 26-27 mph stock. After mods the Predator 90 does 35-36 mph .

As far as on the race track, the predator is faster with the 2 stroke. In the mini classes I have only seen one 4 stroke, they just can't get the performance out of them yet. We race a Eton Viper which I believe is the same motor as the predator and the dependability is really good. We had absolutly no motor problems at all. We did break one swing arm and it seems to be the week point and the new one we gussited before we put it on.

If your going to be doing any racing or hop ups in the future go with the two stroke model...Evasiveone's example is perfect for what can be done with them...It's nice to be able to let the power grow with the child as they get bigger and heavier...My experience has been the 90cc two strokes with limiter's removed do about 28-30mph..I have a radar for testing since I used to race snowmobiles..You wouldn't believe the people who swear these mini's will do 40mph +..I radared a baja 90 at 23 mph with the limiter 27 without and people on this forum will not believe me that it is that slow since it comes with a funky very inaccurate speedometer that claims it is going much faster....
Hotblooded the Viper engine is very similar in design to the predator but it is actually only 82ccs to the predators 89ccs (smaller bore on the viper)The predator has a 2mm smaller carb so the power is very similar between the two with the predator having a little more torque in my opinion..
