Which Adjustment should be done first?

Ok i have a 250 sport jet and im wondering which needs to be adjusted first so that you get the best performance. I noticed a couple of weeks ago when i went out to the dunes the throttle lever had a little to much play so i dont think im getting full throttle. I finally had the time to readjust the mixture screw to 1 1/2 turns out with the bigger jets installed in carb. But my question is which do you adjust first the idle screw on the carb or the throttle cable. I think the best would be to warm up the engine first and for sure take out the play form the throttle lever but not sure exactly which one should be adjusted first? Hope someone has some good advice for me Thanks

yes, I do usually adjust cables first before doing carb-adjustments such as idle screw and air screw. Sometimes can find half-opened throttle due to short cable. It could disturb our exact carb-adjust as well as loosen cables. Adeqate lever free-play, pull up the valve enough and give no effect even if full steer was given on the handle, should be had so as to have a carb which works well.
