Hi! This atv was manufactured Jan. 2008 the original owner bought it in March then I bought it in July. when running, there is a light ticking or, tapping noise I made sure the exaust nuts were tight hope the gasket is ok. is there an adjustment that can be made to lifters tappets etc. on one of these engines to stop the noise? Did it have the noise before you changed the oil? Did the noise get worse after changing the oil?

 

Hi! It had the noise before and after the oil change I was just concerned that if it was in need for a simple adjustment, I need to try and find out if there are in fact, any adjustments present to stop this light tapping sound and try and adjust it before engine damage occurs. I suppose, it's possible the exaust gasket is bad causing this but, I do know the nuts holding the exasut on are tight. but, if there are no adjustments in the engine that can be made to reduce slack which is causing this, I will just try replacing the exaust gasket. I assume I should check the oil level on a level surface with engine off, and oil allowed to fully drain into oil pan as on a car? Thanks! [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img]
