Hi,

New to the forum and see that there is a lot of valuable information here. I am having trouble starting my son's 50cc atv. The starter seems to struggle turning the engine over and i noticed the starter is getting very hot to the touch. I don't think it's a battery issue as i have charged the battery and also tried jumping with another battery.

My question is, do you think I need a new starter? I don't want to purchase one and find out that is not the issue. It seems that the starter starts to turn the flywheel and then stops when it gets too much resistance.

Any help would be appreciated.

Ok, guess I'll purchase a starter and find out the hard way if I'm right....
