I am looking to get my son a new ATV within a week.. HE's almost 8 and weighs round 70 lbs.
we're planning on him trying out a few races next year.

I'm leaning towards the DRX90 just beacuse it is more race ready and more reliable supposedly.. BUt I dont know if the $1000 price different is worth it... but I am curious to how the DRX and Xtreme Typhoons actually compare and hold up. know the typhoons had alot of issues originally but I am not sure if they are worked out or not.. SOmething bout the front control arm mountings need to moved, rear master cylinder moved up a bit and guesseting.

I can get a True Xtreme Typhoon 125 for 1800 or a DRR DRX 90 for $2600.. thats close to a $1000 difference and I dont even know if he will notice a difference.

 

$800 bucks wisely spent. He will notice and you will also.

Thanks for you input.. I appreciate it.. I even considered buying a used trx90 and then widen it 4 inches front qand rear but I still think the DRR may be better.

 

TRX=$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ to make fast. Got an extra 5 grand or so laying around?

 

I would definately go with the DRR (DRX) over those.............
TRX, is not compararable without lots of $$$$$'s as LT80 said...
But, if you want faster, a better race setup, I would also suggest the APEX 90.
I would go with the Apex over the DRX.
My daughter will be moving up to the Apex 90 from her DRX 70......

I live in Darlington MD.. My son is just getting into it so I dont think I want faster just yet.. Are you planning on selling your DRx 70

 

Ya I'm gonna sell it after our last race in October. But if you were on the West coast here, I was gonna point you in the direction of folks that sold both the DRX and the Apex.

 

I just bought a TRX 90 for $400 to get my son going till spring.. want to upgrade and widen the suspension.. any options for me as cheap as possible.. I have a complete 300ex suspension I could swap onto the bike with the DIamond customs brackets so that would be very low cost for me. ANy opinions.

My brother inlaw has been putting these things together for a while now with 3 boys racing at the same time. Yeah I may still be interested.. the TRX90 I got for my son we are just to going to use as a trail bike.. Looking for something to race as well now.
