Default Need Help- Kazuma 150

Please Help.... I have a Kazuma 150 that I've had for about 3 years with no trouble, until now...... It starts up and runs fine at idle but as soon as i throttle up any at all it cuts off. No matter how little throttle up it dies. I've put a new spark plug in but did not help. What can I do? Thanks

I would start with cleaning out the carburator. Be sure to blow the jets out real good. From what you have described it sounds like it is starving for gas. Perhaps change out the fuel filter while you are at it.

Try cleaning the carb if that does not work, you may just need to buy a new electric choke, they can go bad & do this exact thing you are talking about. Here is a link to one: http://www.kidatvs.com/part-detail.php?id=9

Tim,
Go to this site oregonvintage.com. It is a great source of information on the 150. Once you have to pull the carb to clean it you may want to increase the jet size while your at it . the stock jets are too small and will clog easy. It is a very cheap investment and easy to do. He sells them and so does john at raceway.

Tim,
I hope you went to the site I suggested ! There you will see why it is not the choke but the jets. If the choke (enricher valve) didn't function the bike wouldn't start. Even though you clean the carb out good the jets are too small. Mine weren't anywhere near the size that was stamped on them. Take his advice or even John at raceway and get new jets. They are dirt cheap and easy to put in. You will need two. Also that bike didn't come with a gas filter but you could and should add one. Hope you get going.

Bakermon, Thanks for your reply. I did go to the site that you suggested, but they are for scooters and I have the Kazuma 150 Redcat four wheeler. Are the motors and the other info on this site the same? Thanks again for your help.

150cc GY6 engines are used everywhere - scooters, quads, buggies, and bikes. It is so common that this is a real advantage to you. Parts and help are everywhere.

I have a 150cc GY6 quad also (by Hensim). I haven't run into this particular problem but I have read about similar problems elsewhere. One thing to check is for cracks in the rubber intake manifold (elbow) bewteen the carburetor and the engine. They are notorious for cracking at the mounting bolts and leaking air. The test (so I have read) is to spray carburetor cleaner around the manifold. If the engine changes RPM at all then there's your problem.

Timmy,
If you go to raceway's site and click on parts it will pitch you to chinese parts. From there go to performance upgrades and you will see the jet kit for a 150. It is $20. They are the larger jets that are suggested at every site for the 150 atv's scooters, and buggies. This would be cheap and even if it turned out not to be the problem it is worth it. Your bike will always start right up and you will be able to take right off no problem. I would agree with Lynn to check the right angle boot that connects the carb in case it came loose. I had one loose in the beginning and the bike would run but had no power. All the scooter information is the same as your engine.
