Ban on youth ATVs

Ban on youth ATVs
I had a very enlightened email converation with my local Congressman (Whitman, VA) over this issue. Like beating your head against the wall. Talk about not understanding the remifications of their actions. Did you know that bicycles are soon to be included too, if not already? You REALLY have to that the over-reaction types and all the soccer moms on this one who cite the Chinese toy paint fiasco.
I'd sure like someone to show me some statisitcs on how many kids were poisoned by lead paint after chewing on an ATV or a Bicycle. I bet you find a brain dead parent there as well.
This is insanity at it's finest. I say ban the CPSC for poisoning our minds with BS.

Hi,
I belong to another forum where we are also discussing the lead situation, and how the ban affects what we do. When someone posted this link today, I came to find a good ATV forum. Landed here.
Do you guys have an opinion on how the information in the above link might affect the ATV sales for kids under 12?
We have been planned on purchasing a youth ATV, and didn't realize until today how far reaching this CPSIA thing is.
Thanks for any insight anyone can give on this. Have a good day.

Therefore, during the pendency of a stay of enforcement, ATV’s and motorized bikes appropriately sized for children twelve and younger can again be available and the Commission will not seek penalties for violation of Section 101 and related provisions of the CPSIA against those who sell them.
I hope that the state attorneys general will follow the lead of the agency on this matter.
I was wondering if anyone here following this ban has heard of this "stay", and had any thoughts on how it might affect sales for the next year? Thanks.

We don't have such a law in Canada, but we may be affected if companies like Arctic Cat decide to just eliminate their small ATVs altogether. (I guess it depends upon how big the non-U.S. market is, also keeping in mind that most of these quads are not U.S. made anyway - the small AC quads, for example, are made by Kymco, including the new AC 150 I am considering.)

Draggin, I know it sucks double paying, but can it be worth selling your land over? Too bad there no special "registration" for out-of-state land owners. That's a shame.....
