Suzuki LT80 stalls when choke is turned off.
I just bought a used 2001 LT80 for my daughter. It ran fine when I bought it in November. It starts and runs fine as long as I keep it choked. As soon as I disingauge the choke, it runs for about 30 seconds and dies.
Could this be attributed to colder weather? Suggestions?
Thanks,
Chris

Oil Mixture/Removing oil injection
Would you happen to have some info on removing the oil injection from the LT80? Also, what is the ratio of oil to gas I should use?
It runs (on choke) in the PRI or ON positions. Do you think cleaning it or replacing it with a new may help?
Thanks for the help!!

My LT80 is running the auto injector and my son has rode every day this winter.....down to -5 more than a few times.

Im with LT80....your carb needs cleaning. That ought to do it. If you want to change to pre mix then by all means, but dont expect that to fix your problem.....it likely wont.
Its personal preference but I like the auto injector for its simplicity. Check the oil once and awhile and you've got no problems.......this way my little guy doesnt mess up and put the wrong gas in his quad and seize it up.....and once less thing for me to have to keep track of.
If I was racing then the little bit of performance may be worth the extra hassle.....but not for yard/trail riding.

I agree......but for me the ease of keeping that stuff maintained outweighs the highly more likely possibility that one of my children uses the wrong gas can......and the fact that I would have to keep a can of gas mixed at all times. Maybe it would be different if I had a bunch of two stroke stuff around....but out of about 15 motorcycles, atvs, go karts etc......2 are two stroke.

Both have valid points. To each his own on this one.
The pumps work fine..till they don't. Then it's piston time minimum and maybe a complete bottom end rebuild. I have seen the bottoms be good even tho they ran w/o oil briefly. Pump failure is rare.
How do you find time to ride? Aren't you way too busy adjusting the valves on all those slow strokes?? j/k

So far so good in keeping the pump running....I know there is a chance of failure....but I dont know how likely, never had it happen on a two stroke yet but then again....like I said....I dont have that many 2 strokes.
I know we have been riding the crap out of this LT80.....hes out there all the time riding and pulling other kids in sleds........-4 degrees and it fired right up.....love this little ATV. Looking at some of the similiar styled early Suzuki sport quads for myself, would be nice to have a spare quad setting around for friends to ride.
