ive read in a few places about taking rollers out of the front clutch. what does that do. ive also heard about lightening the rear clutch. how do you go about that and are these mods worth while on an otherwise stock quad. also thought i read somewhere about changing springs on the rear clutch. while im at it, what are the best bang for your buck mods to get a little more out of the lt80. i don't want to go too extreme. i want to keep my kids lt80's reliable. thanks.

 

Taking out 2 of the 6 weights, or lightening the 6 will give you a better launch,raising rpms to engage the clutch, not arm jerking, but keeps it from slipping and speeds up acceleration. You can lighten the back shoes by drilling holes, grinding a tiny bit off, but that requires a gram weight scale to keep them equal,mismatched weights will cause problems. Years back, my son had an 87 LT80, really doggy, did the weight removeal in front, and took apart and cleaned the rear clutch, very gummed up. it turned a hill crawler into a hill shredder, clutch grabbed and pulled real nice, more in the power band, my son loved spinning the tires up a sandy hill. Look up LT80 on the forum, his name is Jack, and he has worked on LTs for years, knows them inside and out,and can answer any question you have.
