nothing to be embarrassed about
. most people get frustrated and almost in a panic mode when a quad fails because they don't know how to fix them BUT want them back up and running ASAP. heck, there are times i get frustrated and can't see the forest because of the trees! sometimes we gotta take a step back, take a deep breath, ask for help, and BAM....there's the solution. glad you got it running. and yes, this forum is very helpful and is full of information, knowledge, and experience. it's a good place to learn how to fix quads and as you can tell by all of the posts, there's all sorts of problems. see ya.

Found this forum because I have the same problem Jack had, with kid was riding the atv and heard the alarm beep two times and the atv continued to run fine until the next time we went to use it. When you turn the key on and try to start it you get nothing at all, dead silence, with the key on and I turn on the headlight it won't come on either. If I plug in the trickle charger and then turn on the key and headlight it works just fine and if I quick tap of the start button you can hear the starter turning but it doesn't sound good (different kind of sound) so I didn't try that again. I'm thinking that a button got hit on the remote to arm it and I don't know if there is a button combination to disarm on the remote since I bought the quad used and don't have manuals for it. Any help, tips, and suggestions would greatly be appreciated.

But your problem sounds more like a totally dead battery. When you apply a trickle charger across the battery the lights come on. That says your battery isn't putting out anything at all. Try charging the battery for a day and see if it can run the lights (a trivial load for a battery), then see if it will turn the starter (a really heavy load). I suspect your funny starter motor sounds are just due to the trickle charger not being able to drive such a heavy load.
Another thing to try: Take a pair of jumper cables and jump your quad battery to your car battery. Take extra care to get the polarity right - plus to plus, minus to minus. Does you quad crank over now? Does it start?
How long of a time period elapsed between the last time your ran your quad til you tried to start it up again? Was the trickle charger on the battery during that period? One of the big downsides of these remote modules is that they draw current off the battery all the time. They have to - they are always "on" listening for that radio remote start up signal. Let's say they draw just 10 milliamps (0.010 amps). After 500 hours (about 21 days) they have sucked 5 amp-hours (0.010 amps * 500 hours) of energy out of your battery. Not only is your battery now dead, but it is damaged as well. Batteries that are allowed to sit with less than full charge on them are quickly ruined. It is imperative that the trickle charger be hooked up anytime the quad is not being used if you have a remote module attached to the quad.

Gary from Mainstreet Motorsports wrote up a description of what the remote module buttons do in this thread:

Lynn thanks for posting back so quickly. The time lapse between the time he shut the atv off to when he tried to start it up was about three hours. The reason I thought it dealt with the module was because when he was riding around the yard I heard it chirp a couple times like some cars do when you lock/unlock them. the key that was in the atv had the spare remote attached to it so I thought it might have been bumped while he was riding. I have done the suggestions that have been described in the forum with no luck and had it on the trickle charge for three or four days.

If you are using the factory supplied battery charger and experience these symptoms when you plug into the charging port on the unit, your fuse is likely blown. Follow the red wire back a few inches from the battery and locate the holder. Hope this helps !

Will do and hope this is the problem. Is there more then one fuse because I know I checked one and the charger was factory installed, all I have to do is connect the cord just behind the seat.

Good point Gary

LynnEdwards,
Your replies are so well thought out, it's rare that I have anything to add ! It's nice to actually contribute once in a while, rather than just referencing them for my own personal diagnostics
