others will chime in but this is what i've done, i may learn some more tricks with this thread. But i would thoroughly check the wiring(depends on environment the quad was stored in), then i would change the oils, flush the fuel tank and install a new fuel filter, inspect/change fuel hoses, change spark plug, clean the carb/jets, inspect/clean or replace air filter, grease everything, wash it, install a new battery if applicable, then fire it up. watch for leaks for a few minutes. if all is well, put it in gear and ride.

i don't know much about the mystery oil, but i really don't see a problem with doing that. just turn the engine over quite a few revolutions by hand or by ripcord to work it in with the spark plug pulled out.. then you could probably fire it up.

Meh, you could do the mystery oil if you like.It actually wouldn't hurt just to pull the cap off the spark plug and turn it over a bunch to get all those internals coated with oil again before the first go at trying to make it run.
